Thank you , life saver . Also if guys didn’t have the metal rod that comes with fuse box , a metal rod from a hair pick would work

Finally. After buying my car in May from the junkyard that metal pin was lying on the floor. I wondered what that was for and where it was stored. lol

Boy this is a good one. I had to stop the video and go out into the garage to pull the fuse box cover to see if that little rod was there; whew it is 😅 and hope I don't have to use it. I saw a video where the key was stuck in the ignition in a Boxster that has an automatic transmission. The car would start and shut down, but the key got locked in the ignition, so it end up being a switch (park) that is under the shifter trim and it causes the very same dilemma. I wonder how many have used a hook and a slide hammer whilst in panic mod 😬🤔😆😁?

Had this happen to me. My battery went dead. I tried a trickle charger on the pull out lug in the fuse panel...no luck. Had to lift the car, remove front d.s. wheel, remove the inner fender then pull the release cable for the frunk. After replacing battery the key issue remained. I ripped out the ignition and grabbed my meter. The issue was a blown thermal fuse. Cost me about $1 to replace. Much cheaper than a replacement ignition. That was over a year ago and it's still good.

I think some trickle chargers are “smart”, and need some residual battery voltage to turn on. Same with the lithium “starter battery pack” i tried. My charger set to “supply” worked to open the frunk. Then once I put a charger on the very flat battery - the car came back to life. Key was removable (leaving the key in the ignition for two weeks was what flattened my battery in the first place.)

Please read the driver manual there is much easier way to open the bonnet!!!!

@gusibrahim6961 trickle charger or jumper cables on the fuse box lug and door hinge,as shown in manual, didn't work. The easy way didn't work so I had to do it the hard way...

@hobbyaddictnbroke7678 That's a shame. It's always worked with me,but I had to use the fob to open the bonnet/frunk.

So what was involved with getting the switch assembly out of the dash? Looks like that could be a bear!
@HelpMeDIY28 күн бұрын
+@aboyandhisdog there was another video on removing it so I didn’t film it. Was a real pain indeed! Helps to have a second pair of hands.

There is no need for all of this. There is a little whole with a push switch in front of the gears lever to release the transmission from the park position in order to push the car if need be. Push the switch downward and all your problems solved. Key will come out: the park position is restored, and of you go!!

+@gusibrahim6961 park position? This isn’t a crappy automatic! 😂 😝

@HelpMeDIY Am 65 years and had my fair share of manual gears before you learned how to drive. Besides auto or manual to open the boot, it's the same procedure, but yoy probably forgot to use the FOB!!
@HelpMeDIY10 күн бұрын
@@gusibrahim6961 I don't understand why you are talking about opening the boot... this video is about a key stuck in the ignition. Nothing to do with the boot.
@gusibrahim696110 күн бұрын
@HelpMeDIY I wasn't!! Initially, I talked about how to restore the functionality of the ignition barrel in relation to transmission lever or gears stick!! My question to you: After you performed jumper cable to door hinge, etc, did you use the key fob to open the frunk as you call it? But you have to insult my car by calling it CRAPPY. Just to let you know, I own a 993 turbo with manual gearbox, too.
@HelpMeDIY10 күн бұрын
@@gusibrahim6961 that was a joke, hence the emoji. Also, I never did anything with a jumper cable or frunk. That was someone else commenting on this video.

why the hell would they make it this way? Pure greed . They want us to tow the car to the dealer . My civic doesnt have this problem when the battery dies.
@HelpMeDIY28 күн бұрын
+@positivesecret I’m not sure the reason, but not greed. They give you a tool and tell you how to remove it… no need to take it to a dealer.
