Hello Fellow Fans of Fast. Brace yourself: This service is real. Some years ago Porsche realized a vast number of old Porsches are still in use. They then formed a group called Porsche Classic. Porsche dealers were encouraged to incorporate the Classic idea into their service side. This gets data and part support right from the factory. Most of the models ever built can find parts or get it fixed at the local Porsche Center. For a hefty fee. Gotta remember that every job done by a Porsche shop is given a two year warranty. Most owners are delighted the help is there, well worth the costs. Anything to keep the wheels turning.

I can absolutely confirm that ! I went into a Porsche/VW/Rover dealership many years ago to look at a VW Jetta. Long story short, the sales manager guy was a complete douchebag and I left without buying a car and pretty pissed off. I get a call a few days later from some corporate Porsche guy that wanted me to tell him what happened between me and the sales manager. I told him that I was looking at a VW, and could not nor probably never be able to afford a Porsche, and he told me it didn't matter. It was a Porsche dealership and they did not tolerate any behavior short of complete professionalism. After I told him my side of the story, he had his manager call me and I explained the situation to him. That guy profusely apologized for the behavior of the sales manager and told me that it would be handled. Don't know what happened to the sales manager guy, but I thought the experience itself was kind of strange. Hearing this about how Porsche treats its customers sheds some light on the whole incident. Porsche cannot define the entirety of what makes of a car. So in that right, your wrong. Now, I can’t judge Porsche’s, because I’m not a fan of them, but I can say that they do not encompass the entirety of what a car is. Now, do they have the gas mileage of the average grocery getter?(well, maybe some do, but I’m talking about their more flagship models, what makes them the cool sports cars that they are) No. Can they outpull the likes of the Chevy 3500, Dodge 3500, or the Ford F:350? No. But they are not meant to do these things. They are not built to be a sled pulling coal rolling diesel truck, and neither are they meant to complete with the likes of a Honda Civic or Toyota Camry. They are defined as how you defined them(I can’t remember what all you said because I’m a dumbass). These things are what make them the cool sports cars that they are. But they don’t define the whole of what a car is, and therefore you cannot say that I am not a car guy because I am not a fan of them. And don’t get me wrong, I like Porsche’s. I would one day love to own an old 911, and put a wide body kit on it, and I think it would be pretty badass. But that does not make me a fan of Porsche. I had a similar experience with Nintendo. I have an N64 game system that I bought online and when I couldn’t get it to work I thought about sending it back. On a curious thought I tried the 1-800 number on the console and the number worked as I got the tech support line for Nintendo and I asked the tech support guy if he could help me and he told me “Yes. Our tech support goes back all the way to the SNES” and I was quite surprised and he helped me to get my N54 working again. Love that kind of stuff

I have a story too. Once I drove into a Mazda dealership with my ‘97 three-color slammed Miata because many of my car mechanic friends told me it most likely had rodknock. One of their techs came out, said ‘pop the hood’, listened to it for 3 seconds, then said “I don’t know what it is but it’s not rodknock”, I was relieved, he didn’t charge me a dime, just said thanks and probably wanted me to leave so my car would stop decreasing their property value.

This is a complete joke. The one Porsche dealership in my area refused to work on a 928 because the were to much of a pain in the ass.
