As the owner of a 991.2 GT3 6MT: the clutch pedal is remarkably light for an unassisted clutch; this car combines the best of the looks of the 991 generation with a proper 6-speed manual; the engine is a masterpiece; life starts after 5000 rpm and really starts after the metallic sound after 7500 rpm is incredible; FALS is indispensable; the car lulls you with grip, when the PSC2 tires let go, the car snaps quickly; 4th gear lever fore-aft movement on throttle tip-in is a quirk of this car. Why do you guys limit your reviews to one mile? This really should have been the intro to a longer video of a morning of canyon runs.

@@ICEV it's light but not small. I've owned 2 991.2 GT3's and they're looooong. About as long as a Ferrari 458. But when you're in the driver's seat you can't really notice because the rear wheel steering shortens the turning radius

My two cents on this MT car, it incredibly fun to drive at all speeds. I get just as much enjoyment driving at regular road speeds as pushing a bit harder. The chassis dynamics are magical - low speed ride quality can be a bit choppy, but the dampers give it a magic carpet feeling above 50mph. Can't comment about the aero because it doesn't really factor in reasonable speeds.

The manual transmission 2018 GT3 is the best newer 911 to capture the pureness and pedigree of the 1970s and 1980s 911s with very fond iconic sounds and feel but wrap it into a newer, much faster, much better handling package. There is absolutely no way any real Porsche owner could not like this vehicle. It is a game changer. It feels old but new at the same time. I feel like its 1986 all over again.

I always enjoy these 1 mile review videos, and this was another fun one. I think you summarized the car well, and I'm personally surprised how much I now like these cars after not taking an initial liking to the 991 platform when it debuted. At this point I'm quite a fan of the 991.1/.2 platform and reserve my dislike for the 992. There may be a pattern brewing! Thanks again for an exceptional video!

Great color and interior. But a PDK is not an “automatic”. The Tiptronic (which I own currently) is. Let’s accept PDK as the evolution of the old school lever/pedal model. Formula 1 ditched the old configuration years ago, not for convenience or lack of driver skills, but because lever/pedal is slower and less efficient. I’m over 50 and had some fun stick shift cars, but those are now history, like carburetors.

Living in the south of France this type of road is normal, many are not as wide. Given this 500hp is totally impractical and the recent generations of 911’s (991, 992) are too large. You’re constantly nervous about encountering oncoming traffic when driving. For me the 981, 987 generations of Boxster, Cayman or 964-997 generations of 911 are much more enjoyable in “real world “ conditions.
@jimsteinway695 Жыл бұрын
That’s why it’s so enjoyable to live in the western US Idaho Nevada Montana and Wyoming. You can EASILY enjoy EVERY ONE of those 500 horsepower. Especially in Nevada there’s so many unpopulated roads to enjoy. All over the west, you can easily go as fast as you want.

I’ve had 3 manual GT3s 996.2 997.1 997.2 and now 991.2 and I got the PDK. The manual in the GT3 is way over rated. A manual in a turbo is no problem, it has torque all over the place. The GT3 DOES NOT. The GT3 has one weakness no torque down low. If you’re in the wrong gear and a M3 comes along and you mash the pedal the civic next to you will eat your lunch. It’s a TRACK car!! You DONT BUY it to go SLOW! It manual is noticeably slower. You don’t buy a track car to go slower. Most race cars have sequential transmissions. The PDK makes up for the only weakness in the car. I’ve driven enough manuals to fill a lifetime. I’ll never buy another manual unless it’s a classic If you need a manual to get more enjoyment you haven’t drive. Enough
@FrankG-nd7tk Жыл бұрын
For track use yeah PDK is obviously faster . But manuals are so much fun :). And a special drivers experience . I am fine that it’s about half a second slower than pdk but there is something special shifting your own gears . And it’s sad they are a dying breed . The 991.2 and 992 manual are one of the best made . I have an 991.2 GT3 manual and love it . I also have a tuned 2018 Mercedes AMG E63S with 773HP that I paid $80k for that’s faster in a straight line but not close to as much fun as my gt3 . The 991.2 manual GT3 is very special . To me it feels like it has plenty of torque . It’s a glorious 4.0 engine and that sound from 5k to 9k 😁.. wow .. I drive mine around the mountain roads near my home not much on track . Cheers 🥂
