Question … have 991.2 GT3 Touring … would you know how to dial in the steering feel more direct ie 992 double wishbone feel?

I watch a fair bit of Car vids, and just found yours (indirectly) from BaT. What stands out for me, is that you’re very articulate …. kind of simple observation; but, sorely Missed in So MANY other channels. A bit ‘weird’ comparing a Porsche to a Honda, but hey … being only my first view of your vids, there might be a reason … Anyway, Great to hear an Articulate ‘young’ person “doing cars”.

Just to inform you, suspension is 100% same as in GT3 touring. If you ”feel the difference” its only in your imagination.

Nice short sharp hit of a review. That engine sounds incredible. I bet it is incredible to use too. It looks a quality thing inside and out and is no doubt dynamically honed to perfection. But... "barely feels like a rear engined car." Is that really what you want from a 911? The limitations of the rear engine make for the 911's unique challenge and depth of character that nothing else has. Dimish that in the name if speed (that you can no longer safely exploit on the road because its limits are so high) and effectiveness, and you being to lose what makes the 911 special in the first place.

As the owner of a 991.2 GT3 6MT, I agree with almost all of your comments. The only issue with the shifter is a slight fore-aft movement in-gear during throttle tip-in and off-throttle transitions in 4th gear. This was apparently fixed in the 992 GT3 6 MT. Apart from that, the car is very solid and incomparable to anything else on the market. The 991.1 GT3 does not come with the 6MT and early engines have high-rpm misfires related to early finger-follower wear and will rapidly depreciate when the 10-year warranty expires.
@sultandhahi30462 жыл бұрын
I think its a problem in some transmissions. My touring had some flex in 4th only, then developed into 6th too albeit getting much worse over time as the transmission was getting rough sometimes in and out of gear and hard to engage or disengage a gear in some circumstances. The transmission was replaced under warranty.

you're right about porsches and road noise. i find it very annoying in my cayman. probably worse than "very annoying". it's pretty clear why. a glance at the wheel wells and their liners shows a remarkable lack of sound deadening material. none in fact.
@Zygrene3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think an extra 20-30 lbs of wheel well insulation in the non-GT Porsches would go a long way to improve NVH.
@jimsteinway695 Жыл бұрын
A normal 911 or boxster like yours is FINE with road noise. The GT products have VERY LITTLE noise deadening in the cars. They are a bit noisy. Any other product Porsche makes is more quiet than most sports cars. Perhaps you need a Mercedes

I'm not sure how worth these are given post-pandemic prices. Pre-pandemic prices? Absolutely worth it.
@Zygrene3 жыл бұрын
Pretty much everything is inflated right now, so relative to other cars I'd say the 991.2 is still worth the money
@mister_ray3 жыл бұрын
Yes I saw 991.2 GT3 as low as $130K pre-pandemic. Not sure we will ever see that again.

How is this compared to the zl1 1le?
@Zygrene3 жыл бұрын
GT3 is much more compliant and its power is way easier to manage. Better car for a backroad. ZL1 1LE feels like it's designed purely for the racetrack due to its DSSV dampers and unusable power when the tires aren't fully warmed up.

Nice review! Seems like a long gear throw. Looks direct though

It is not a long throw - having many MT performance cars in my life I feel it’s the best I’ve had
@I999-g2sАй бұрын
Seems like the s2k comparison was for the fanboys. The reality is, the s2k is frustratingly slow (for a performance car) and the GT3 is stupidly fast, everywhere.

Thats so funny how the s2000 shifter is still better than a car like this
@TheChannel19783 жыл бұрын
It really does seem the s2000 has the best shifter on the planet, particularly when going for it. Very cool feeling to feel the shifter get smoother when the car is fully warmed up on a track day.
@jimsteinway695 Жыл бұрын
I’ve driven 7 S2000s. Their shifters are not better than the worst Porsche shifter. Stop complaining because you can’t afford a 911
@lordmaster55223 жыл бұрын
Not perfect but still very good. The better 991 versions are; 911 R, 911 Speedster, GT3-RS, or even the 997.2 GT-3 RS 4.0. The 992 GT3 is even better because it has double wishbone suspension up front and the engine is Motorsport derived from their Cup car and have individual throttle body like the 991.2 Speedster which this 991.2 GT3 does not have.
@Zygrene3 жыл бұрын
Touché. I need to get behind the wheel of each of those.
@samwisee3 жыл бұрын
@@Zygrene 911R and the 7.2 GT3 RS 4.0 is basically unreachable at this point so don't bother. Too few were made and the RS4.0 is now worth something like 600k+ a regular 997.2 GT3 or the 3.8RS will give you 90% of the feel, on public road you won't be able to feel the difference between the 3.8RS and the RS4.0. Time to sell your NSX?

All those are great cars but IMO the 991.2 GT3 looks the best of all mentioned. Ugly black plastic front end ruins the 992. WHY PORSCHE??

I’ve had 3 GT3s. 2 manual I PDK. With a manual you have a weakness in a GT3. No torque down low. If you make a mistake shifting a M3 will eat your lunch. The PDK solves that issue because it will never allow a wrong shift or gear. I enjoy passing my manual buddies on the track. I’ve driven manuals my whole life. Why buy a track focused car THEN buy slower version? It’s stupidity. Hype that’s all it is . Manuals are so 1940s. Ferrari and Lamborghini don’t out manuals in their cars. Race cars don’t have manuals. You want to be more engaged? Get a girlfriend. CYA on the track while I lap you again and again
