Nobody is saying Wendy's illness is karma, but you can't have malicious intentions either. A lot folks don't know grimey, back in the day, radio Wendy. Y'all only know TV hot topic Wendy. She did use her education and experience in media to be malicious. Being malicious hurts people. Being a public figure, gossip comes with the territory, whether it's true or not, people are going to talk about you. But it's a difference when you use what you got to intentionally hurt people. So is it Karma, no, but she knows how it feels now to be in the exact predicaments she talked about others for.

Hey Jessie ! I love your content . One thing I want to say as a Haitian American woman who was raised in South Florida as well . All our experiences are not the same.To my face I’ve never was made fun of by a black Americans. In actuality, they’re were some of the most open and inviting people that I’ve experienced. My daughter is half Black American, my husband is black American , best friends of 20 yrs are Black American and I attended and graduated from a HBCU ; so I have a ton of experience with ppl in the Black American community. Typically, most Black Americans have shame but the thing I noticed that they have that MOST Haitian immigrants/families don’t have is transparency. To me , they are a lot more open with their highs and lows than Haitian immigrant / families. Until you really connect with Black American culture outside of entertainment, it would be nice if you don’t box them in. Also , to be honest in South Florida , Haitian talked down to Black Americans from the time they touch US soil ,so we are not innocent. We all have work to do in the diaspora to come together . But, we all have to be honest about our bias so we can move forward.

I literally said the same thing in these comments. I don’t understand where the perception comes from that we just be allowed to do whatever tf we want like yt people. Huh?! Absolutely tf not. @@petitelune5284 okay let me give you an example. Jamaican dancehall is very sexual, has plenty of gunman tunes, and many would say normalizes violence. However, how many among us would distill Jamaican culture to that subset of dancehall music? I would hope that it would be no one. Most reasonable people recognize that type of music is only one component of Jamaican culture. However, when it comes to Black American culture, which is very rich and very storied as well, people only want to point to that subset of rap music! Mind you, every person making that music isn’t even American! Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Nicki Minaj, XXXtentacion, Pop Smoke, etc. are all either immigrants or children of immigrants. And if we take a trip across the pond, the UK drill scene, which also heavily promotes violence, is made up of the 1st, 2nd and even generation immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean, so…?

I usually enjoy Jessie’s content but this time I felt as though she ignorantly generalized Black Americans. When she said black immigrants carry shame and weren’t allowed to have as much freedom as Black American children ( using smoking a cigarette as a point of reference), I was highly offended. I’m not 100% sure of the culture in Miami, however that is not the case for MANY Black folks in other parts of the country. Majority of her following is black American women but whatever trauma she’s experienced in her past, you can clearly see it’s being projected through her content towards Black American people. She said “ya’ll don’t want unity”, I believe it’s the other way around. I do not know anyone who felt that Simon’s immigration status was a laughing matter. She used the moment to spew her disdain for Black Americans which is so odd.

"Shame" isn't just a Black immigrant experience. Have you ever heard of "respectability politics?" Also, Black American parents don't simply allow their children to do whatever they want to do. Yes, there is a section of the Black American population who probably could, but there are so many Black Americans, from millennials and older, who had very strict and/or religious parents. Black folks across the globe and continental Africans aren't as different as some like to make it seem. Is there xenophobia and ignorance coming from some Black Americans? Yes. Just like there are plenty of nonsensical generalizations and misperceptions about Black Americans coming from non-Black and Black immigrants. We need to start speaking with each other more, so that we can knock down all of this sourness that we fling at each other. It's tired and only helping to further exalt white supremacy and anti-Blackness.

The most racism I have ever experienced has been from White Cubans because they try so hard to adopt the ideologies of white Americans and are treated with a certain level of favoritism in comparison to other Latin and Black Caribbean immigrants. However….. Black American families DO NOTTTTTTAH let us do whatever we want!! We don’t grew up doing what we want! That’s cap and it contributes to the idea that we are inherently “vagabonds”. I don’t like that. That’s a very problematic perception to have. I’m sick of other black groups making it seem like we don’t grow up with expectations and pressures and shame. Especially, growing up as a young black woman! SMH yeah this video triggered some deep rooted trauma I experienced with other black people of the diaspora in Miami and South Florida. Smh. So over it.

As an African American, I won’t pretend to know what your experiences have been or dismiss these experiences because it is different from mine. I am your “seester” and you deserve my compassion and understanding. What I will say is many of us have been instilled conflicting and negative thoughts about the African diaspora in general and sometimes we weaponize these notions to hurt one another. Instead of just calling out the hurt we should have a bigger conversation on why these stereotypes exist and how we can help each other overcome them. But that’s another conversation. I hope you and all of the “seesters” continue to have a day filled with joy and uninterrupted peace.

Real conversations need to be had between all the Black ethnicities, communities, nationalities. With that being said, As a Black/African American, you can not piss on us and tell us that it's just raining. Respect to the many Africans, Afro-latinas and Caribbeans that keep it a buck. They are honest about the negative, bigotry beliefs and feelings regarding AA people. It's not often (but sometimes) a misunderstanding of culture. It's genuine prejudice. Having a different or more conservative culture does not excuse passive aggressiveness, segregation, or viewing someone/a group as inferior. Saying "they're different" is one thing, saying "they're bad" etc is another. I also beg to differ that the smoke is only towards other Black foreigners because one thing about African-Americans we are very boisterous, we are very vocal about what we don't like lol. Which is another cultural difference that some other Black ethnicities/ immigrants look down on us for "trouble makers" " complainers" " race baiters". It's not honest to say we don't give the smoke to the Asians, Arabic, Hispanics etc. I don't approve of it but you have some Black American people now who are willing to vote for Trump just because of that (the imagination laws) that affects Hispanics more. However you have Black Americans who feel like it's in our best interest to do so. Due to the belief, regardless as being true or false that advantages are giving to Hispanics that results to a disadvantage of AA, similar to what you spoke on in regards to Cubans Etc. Nonetheless the division and animosity might have been started by others (European) but it's still being perpetuated by ALL OF US, AA included. As for Porsche, I believe what you said about her and Simon still being okay because Frank Ski has a radio show here in DC and he spoke about it. He says he's best friends with Simon and although he talked about how he sad to see them divorce. What he said at the end stuck out to me, Frank Ski - if nothing else the ratings are going to be good for housewives this year, y'all going to be watching that show for sure now. The way he said it, seem to have gave away that the divorce is strategic.

Or the part where in modern day redlining allows for predominantly aa schools in this country to be underfunded where as public majority white populated schools receive on average more funding.. not to mention the wealth gap that is a huge limitation on those who are able to access higher learning… If education is your drive why would you choose America when Europe provides higher education for free?? Just wanted to add perspective to the conversation about how Black Americans relationship with African immigrants, specifically Nigerians. I grew up and still reside in Silicon Valley where there is a large population of Eritreans, Ethiopians & Nigerians. And in MY experience, there’s a large majority of Nigerians ( not ALL) that are not welcoming and/ or accepting towards African Americans. This has been my experience through high school, college and now into adulthood. Mind you, I have close friends that are Nigerian and we have conversations about this ALL the time as to why there is tension amongst us. In my opinion, I feel that most African Americans are welcoming to most cultures and rarely turn up our noses to others but WE don’t get the same in return, not from Africans, Mexicans, Middle Eastern, etc. I think it’s important that a real conversation is had about how some Africans truly treat us and therefore draw a line in the sand. It’s like, you stay on your side , we’ll stay on ours. I’ve known many Nigerian males whose parents despise them dating Black women but the same energy is not given when they date an Asian, etc, 31:10 I was apart of my friends Nigerian wedding and the mothers and aunts REFUSED to help put on my head wrap nor use their pins but surely did assist the African bridesmaids with theirs. There’s just been SO many examples of how Nigerian women mistreat Black women. I’m a 40 year old, highly educated, married, home owner in the Bay Area. None of that shit matters to them , most still treat me like I’m beneath them. But yet, I still smile and make attempts to connect with them because that’s just the type of person I am. Anyways I say all of this to say, is that there’s a reason why there is a divide amongst us and I think it’s time for Africans to take some accountability in that AND then make change. It’s not just all on us Black folk, especially us in Cali where they’re aren’t many black folks! He’ll we trying to get all the numbers we can!! Yet we are mostly , sadly on an island by ourselves.

Im not the type to be happy about anybody being deported though unless you killed somebody or something. The African American conversation vs African immigrant conversation deserves way more nuance than that. As an African American woman I can certainly agree that parts of our cultures differ but I have to disagree in the fact that we also grow up with a lot of shame. It may not look like yours and it may not be something you can understand on the surface looking in but it’s there and it’s heavily ingrained in our culture, our households, our perceptions and how we move in this country and world

Both and. It’s well documented that with a history of trauma & substance abuse your chances of receiving a diagnosis of dementia increases drastically. It’s very common for those who have suppressed deeply traumatic experiences. Wendy shared her battle with cocaine decades ago and then in most recent years she coped with alcohol and dissociated through her show + delusions of family life. I believe if anything Graves’ disease was the first sign of the stress of her life and potential decline. Autoimmune diseases like graves, Ibs, lupus, etc. have strong correlations to trauma or extremely high stress which can be one and the same. I love Wendy though I didn’t always like her or agree with her. I do believe sometimes you get what you give. She has graves, her son went off to college, her mom passed away, her husband humiliated her, she lost her show, she was in isolation during covid dealing with the grief of 3 major losses. The woman was fragile though it didn’t seem that way. Too much on her body & heart at once. I wouldn’t say Wendy is receiving karma bc that’s not for me to say and I’m not sure I believe it. So many truly diabolical people have been walking this earth who have not seemed to reap a fraction of what they’ve sowed. Someone said if you were an amazing person you deserve to remember it at the end, if you were terrible you also deserve to remember that. I agree. Either way I wish Wendy well ❤

@MsMizz1 THIS ! 💯 Wendy also had a lot of self esteem and unaddressed trauma from childhood amd beyond. She would brush of hurtful episodes by saying she is OK she has a successful show, a husband, a family being the proud Mrs. Hunter. I am not sure about karma but unaddressed trauma and the life you have built as a coping mechanism always make us face the consequences at some point. The lesson I think is important to take from this drama is that 1) Trauma needs to be faced and healed (God and therapy) 2) A job can be lost, a husband can leave but nobody can take the sense of identity and self awareness that is built on inner work (including therapy) and intimacy with God (or whatever you call him).

I'm not going to go and list every time when Wendy went beyond light gossip or laughed at someone's pain, but it happened often I always thought she was talented and GREAT at what she did. But I'm not going to sit up and act like I have amnesia either. I do wish her health and peace though. No part of me wanted to see her go out like this.

The thing that’s so funny to me is that most Black immigrants from whatever country have this disdain for African Americans. Most AA are not repping hard for the USA we don’t have the American flag in our profiles. The supposed Xenophobia of AA is often a response to treatment we are getting from immigrants and even still it’s more like we accept everyone we help everyone we influence everyone and yet and still everyone hates us, so we rep for each other to show hey African Americans do have culture pride history and you can’t just sh*t on us. The stereotypes about AA doing whatever they want perpetuated by Jessie is so disappointing. We acknowledge the harmful stereotypes placed on for instance Hataians I would like the same care given to AAs seeester…

🎯It’s hurtful and stereotypical. We all deserve to speak on our life experiences as black people in this world. This conversation goes a lot deeper starting from negative propaganda we are feed about each other. Truth be told we’ve all been told we’re “better than” or to “stay away” from the next black person. It’s foolishness.

Jessie, I’m disappointed in the statements made about Black Americans being Xenophobic against Simon just because of the recent comments. The fact that you are choosing to discuss what Black Americans are saying vs. what African Immigrants consistently say about Black Americans to set us apart is a missed opportunity for accountability. As someone who purposely positions themself among the African community because of my love for culture, I personally see how the African Immigrant community takes pride in separating themselves from Black Americans. There should be a word created for this! The shameful expressions made about the Black American community and their struggles for success that African Immigrants say they don't understand. This lack of understanding gives the impression that African Immigrants must not have the same experience here in America. To say that African Immigrants are given nothing here in American is interesting, we see the privileges given through the African Immigrant community, Immigration Services Nonprofits, and with the knowledge that rasism prevents pennyless African diaspora from coming to America. I wish we encouraged more unity.

We don't have close proximity to non-black immigrants. We live in the same neighborhoods as black immigrants and know very well that many of the elders hate us. FOR instance, I had a Nigerian guy friend/coworker in college and I went to his house one day bc I was helping HIM study for a test. We went to pick up something from his house and head to the library. His mom was so damn rude to me. Mind you, I was polite as always (my family is southern, I got manners and decorum). I asked him about it and he dead ass told me his mom would prefer him marry a yt woman over a black one bc black American women are stupid slurs. I had no interest in him anyway but this has also been a reoccurring theme. I don't care either way. I always operate from a place of love who loves me. But it is very apparent when some immigrant blacks don't fwu until its convenient.

Scamming should never be encouraged. It literally ruins lives people commit suicide behind their life savings being taken through Scamming. You certainly wouldn't be saying that if it happened to you or a loved one.

I don't think Porsha is stupid She likes to make us think she is stupid at times, especially when she doesn't want to take accountability Like when Phaedra lied on Kandi Just one example that instantly comes to mind 😂

Hi Jessie, love you and come from an African immigrant family, but I feel that this is not the same thing. people are slack jawed because it’s a housewife scandal-akin to Joe Giudice’s deportation. Housewives are known for fraud scams and living beyond their means, and Porsha is no exception. I know you really like her, but if feels like hiding her trifling behavior (lying on someone committing sexual assault is unforgivable, how she treats her own family and hit her own mother in law, sleeping with her colleagues husband) behind justice issues. Porsha is not a victim of antiblackness in immigration. It actually does a disservice to real people who are impacted by that in my family and otherwise. People move goalposts to defend Porsha. Just admit that you like her and are being her spokesperson and keep it pushing.

There are a lot of those conversations happening on TikTok and looking at the comments on TikTok under those videos, it’s alarming and disgusting on all sides. Those conversations are such energy drainers. You will feel tired and disappointed after. We may listen to each other individually but collectively we not listening and it’s just a bunch of finger pointing with no real solution. I also don’t think Jesse is the right person to lead the conversation either just from her “knowing 🙄” that all those negative comments about Simone were coming from African Americans.
