PORT ADELAIDE - Adelaide's most haunted suburb?

My fascination with the paranormal has brought me to the sea side suburb of Port Adelaide. In my opinion, it is the most haunted suburb in metro Adelaide because of the concentration of ghostly activities and hauntings all set within a small radius. Not surprising given it's tragic history and the rich tapestry of stories woven into the fabric of it's existence since the beginning in 1840, when the port started to take shape.
I stop at 2 locations for lunch and coffee, namely Port Admiral Hotel and L Law Cafe respectively. The former is a well known paranormal location worthy of a visit.

Awesome video. Love the use of drone footage as well, and especially enjoyed the little food review in the middle there. Very entertaining.

Thanks man! I don't get to drone that much so when I get the chance, I make good use of it. Sadly, that pub closed down shortly after this video went to air. 🤷 Thanks for watching!

Hi, great channel, I've been gradually exploring new places around SA and this is so helpful! Perfect balance of fun and information 😊🙏 I watched your video before doing the kapunda ghost tour last weekend and it was a nice introduction, our guide was good but didnt cover all the points you did. Thankyou!

Excellent video, yet spooky 👻 Thank you for answering to my requests from my comments from your previous videos 😊 I agree with you about some of these Asian meals being overly infused. Should be kept as original and best 😃

Ha yes... When I read your suggestion, it was like a lightbulb moment. Why of course! There's so much to Port Adelaide's story. I've had bad fusion before, but this was was bad to a new level. I really don't know why I do that to myself. 🤣

Yes, Old Port boy here, My grandfather was a wharfie as was my Father initially. I used to haunt the place when I was a boy, and there were many Characters alive at the time. After spending most of his life on the wharf my Grandfather was injured under the cranes on Dock 1, when a load came loose and fell on him. He survived but his arm muscles became wasted. I actually done my own mini video about the port years ago, bit have misplaced it. It was basically moulded to the writings of the Port Institute book. There was some history in that book and I believe that the Institute building shifted about 3 times at least. Many of the old people were buried at the Cheltenham Cemetery as is my Grandfolks. There is a statue of an old Fireman there. I believe 3 of them lost their lives in a ship fire that exploded in Dock 2 , One of them they only ever found 3 buttons of his Coat, and that is what is in the grave.

Thank you for your detailed responses. There are so many stories like yours which aren't covered by historical archives. My husband's father was a wharfie there as well. Straight there to work when he arrived as a migrant from Malta, and he worked there till his premature death from cancer.

I like Port Adelaide , I’ve been there a few times and like the feel of the place , although I’ve never felt the presence of a ghost yet , but theres still time I suppose . The title “ most haunted “ is popular is Australia . I live in what is regarded as the “ most haunted town in NSW “ . There’s used to be guided ghost hunts but the company went bust , probably due to the non appearance of the spirits 😂.

I would love to go on one of these ghost tours. They have one for Port Adelaide. I've been to the ghost tour at Adelaide Gaol. The ultimate would be the overnight experience at the North Kapunda Hotel!

There are plenty of hauntings here! The port dock hotel has a former prostitute that haunts it, that “Lipson house” bank is a private home downstairs but they rent the top floor out for $350 wk, most leave due to the bank manager’s ghost being present. The old customs house has a man in a Tuxedo, the old fire station was an autopsy room and is haunted, the cafe over the road was a morgue once, haunted. The railway museum and police station haunted too, the old phone exchange haunted. There are plenty of places.Haarts mill too. Just trying to access everything isn’t simple.

Nice video! Recommend going to the railway museum, one of the more haunted places ive been. As for haunted 'suburbs', have a look at Kapunda, which is also not tooo far from Gawler :)

You and I are brothers from another mother. I have such a fascination with the esoteric and I've always wanted to film a full ghost investigation video. Maybe a collab? Absolutely loved the drone footage! The enxt time I'm in Adelaide, we have to makan at the pub. Food seriously looks SO good. I'm all about fusion done well. It just occurred to me that it's going to be truly torturous to watch your videos...I've restarted Keto today!

It was called Port Misery for good reason. They used to pay publican to pull people out of the Port River and they stored them at the local pubs between beer barrels. The first city mapped out by Colonel Light. Look up Broadway Kate she makes her self well known along with the headless lady in the blue dress a madam of a brothel in Port Adelaide. Most of its residence are buried at the Alberton Cemetery now a public park that was left in ruins until Cheetham cemetery was established. Most head stones were removed from Alberton cemetery. Life was cheap in Port Adelaide in its prime and it saw a lot of hard times and hard working people.

Hey Ryan you did an amazing job on the history and the hauntings of Port Adelaide. Did you ever investigate the colag as we did a investigation there about 5 months ago and a male spirit attached itself to me it was scarey stuff lucky we had a spirit guide with us and she sent him away cheers for the walk around.

Hi Ryan, Did you take my Ghosts of the Port tour? It's available for free at the visitor centre. There are a few more haunted locations around the Port for you to document - great video, thanks, Allen Tiller.

Allen! Your name popped up more than once in the course of my research for this video! Thanks for watching! And no, I've always wanted to take the ghost tour for Port Adelaide, just have not got around to it. I've done Clipper Ship, Kapunda Hotel, and Adelaide Gaol (twice)... And yes, I'm absolutely fascinated by the paranormal. I especially love the investigative bit where I interact with spirits etc... I've even managed to capture EVPs at the Gaol. Again, this is all very fascinating.
