I’ve been working at the Port Authority for about 16 years as a contractor for various technical companies. Port Authority in the location you were in has its own police academy about two blocks away from the 13th street garage so you probably ran into the junior cops who have an office in the Holland Tunnel. Most of the cops are reasonable but not the PA cops they are reminded almost daily about 9/11 I’ve watched the recruits get grilled and berated for not knowing the names of the cops who died at WTC some weren’t even born then. Communication is not their specialty I talk to them in many locations but unless you are a Port Authority manager or a director or a policewoman-policeman they can be unhelpful. A big delivery truck is still seen as an object of interest and as a threat to be watched, it’s the culture not the man. I have worked on computers and servers for the police department and the other departments in the office and in the field for about 16 years and the culture of the Police at Port Authority is just very different from most police officers and police stations. My views are sympathetic to you or anyone else who gets caught up with the Port Authority police department, they are bull headed and communicating to the average Joe is not a part of their design or culture. They make good road blocks and they can be blockhead’s when faced with decision making.

Steve,first of all,a belated Merry Christmas,and a great and Happy New Year! Second,arrogance begets retribution,and the PA,is long overdue for that! They do not respect the public,and that's the top management,and it permeates the entire structure! I've dealt with them in the past,and getting information,was like pulling teeth of a mako shark! Thanks for showing me,a bit of Jersey City,I didn't know about! Thanks for all last year,and I hope,you and your nephew can do another road trip,as that education is priceless! Thanks again 👍 ☺ 😊 😘!

I am sure glad the forklift operators at Home Depot have to get lessons. This guy needs to work there for awhile.

You have to understand the mentality of PA police. They think everyone is a terrorist and to treat them as such, and everything can blow up at anytime. Paranoia is part of the job. You're not the only one to be harassed, I dealt with this for 28 years. Try picking up or dropping a person at Newark airport. You're told to move your car with lights and siren.

I must be missing something because I don’t see any angry cops. Just people in the comment section who want to talk shit about police.

Back in the 70s I was delivering on the East coast about every week and after about four or five years of putting up their BS, Unions, a-holes, Government Lackys that wanted money to unload their shit I finally told my Boss I would rather spend another 32 months in SE Asia like I did in the 60s than go that Hell hole. The fork life driver acts like it's the first time he has ever seen the forklift.

At 16:46 when that dude just walked out the door and walked infront of you, it appeared he was important enough that his status would save him from being run over. Obviously never worked around large machinery before, cause he would be dead by now🤤

Holy smokes from the ghosts of Christmas past !! Been retired for 20 years. The sounds of the chains and straps etc. Worked or a rigging company and hauled heavy & specialized anywhere in U.S. and Canada. T'was the way I made a living. Nowadays I kinda like retirement.

Yeah I don't even like going out in public anymore. Every trip involves close calls, nastybrude brainless people and it takes an hour to do anything.

Using a hand/spring clamp is a neater way to bundle up the tails of the straps. And if it’s winter weather the strap doesn’t collect as much ice / snow.
@briant94913 жыл бұрын
If you buy a cheap battery drill get a round bit of wood the size of a rolled up strop (strap) whatever you call it over there,put a small bolt through the middle and then nut it up, put to bits of wood on top for tail of strop to fit in, pull rigger on drill, strop rolled up in seconds

Happy New Year to you and your family! Well, you are kind of blocking their fuzzmobiles parked there along the fence-but they ought to complain to the idiot who told you to unload there. You did, after all, leave enough room for them to get out if they had to. But whattaya want, they _are_ Port Authority cops-wannabes who couldn’t make the cut for NYPD or even Jersey City! 🤣 Looking forward to the video of your swing down to Philly to deliver the generator!

Sweet. Im just at the beginning and apparently its going to show something that could happen more often but is hardly seen. The good old " me first flashers" aka hazard lights. I know that they are needed in some situations, although im sure they dont change the law. The funniest part is how lots of car drivers do this in front of schools or in fire zones. They believe they can stop anywhere they want as long as they have flashers going. Pretty interesting subject thats is not often discussed. 🤔

You now witness the problem with the old big cities they where not built for your size of tractor trailer,have been there most of the old sections of town where built when 36-40 foot trailers and day cab tractors. You did good let there actions roll off your back ,video speaks volumes just as they have body cams your cam does the same for you., Happy New Year safe travels,in the Fire service we “ Everyone goes Home”

Only one time did I have trouble with unloading at a customers yard. I told the gate guard that I will be happy to take this to our yard and the company will have to pay unload, storage, load and additional millage. Just sign here. He waved me through after that.

Tip: lube that strap winder with food grade anti-seize. No mess with it like Never-Seize...does the same job better because it it non-staining, won't absorb into your skin or anything else. And it is non-toxic. It's available up to 2000-some degree capability. I threw away all my Never Seize when I discovered it.
