Definitely looks real - in the animation the bus drove off before the train arrived.

Emmett yep that happens in real life. One time I got off a train at Woodlands Park to go to Tonsley, and the Tonsley train took off right before my train arrived at Woodlands Park. I ended up having to wait for the next train. *Facepalm*

You can already walk from the museum to the station on the viaduct. It only takes a few minutes.

So when the red hens run, will they use port dock instead but on the other side of the station?
@aussiespear4010 Жыл бұрын
Hopefully, the new government put the station back on the table. If they use the same design then redhens and maybe bluebirds can use the station on the other side.

good to see this community revitalisation being provided with a train terminus again, I think the interaction between the NRM and this station could prove exciting, special runs between ADE and PtADE

I thought they reason they closed Port Dock Station was due to low passenger numbers. Do they think the passenger numbers will be higher this time?
@MarkHenstridge5 жыл бұрын
Adelaide population has increased and housing in the Port area has more than tripled since the closure of the old Port Dock Station closed plus traffic flow in peak hour into the city is a lot heavier than years ago and parking costs a moderate fortune.

This plan is good. Not a fan of the bus interchange on Commercial Road. That should be 45 degree parking for all the little shops. Those shops will still be serviced! Move the interchange from there to here and Life could be good again.

This Port Dock spur isn't needed. The existing Outer Harbor train line with it's Port Adelaide train station is located in the right spot. Adding branches from the trunk railway line reduces frequency, capacity of the trunk line while increasing service complexity. Melbourne's suburban train network is so complex (see links below) due to it's extensive branching and track sharing on trunked sections of track. Examples of line branching in Melbourne, New York City, Berlin, Stockholm and etc show why train lines must never contain branches. The Victorian Government with the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) are planning for the long term by separating branched train lines to increase Melbourne's overall train network capacity, improve frequency and reliability of each train line (2nd & 3rd link below). PTV's plan also includes the redesign of train services to maximise opportunities for seamless coordination with buses and trams; and extend the network to areas currently not served by metropolitan rail (4th link below). When Labor gets re-elected, the Libs aren't really keen on public transport that's why the new tram down Norwood Parade has been scrapped by the Marshal Liberal Government along with 2000 public servants to help ease the tax for the big end of town hoping some benefit of that will trickle down to the poorer end of town.

Unless it actually goes somewhere it's a waste of money, haven't you learned anything from the trams? You had to make them free to get people to use it. The train needs to get to the Wharf at least.

LOL, I remember the opponents of the Tram extension in the city saying it will be a white elephant, they all said the same thing about Adelaide oval. It was a stupid idea to axe the rail service to Semaphore and Port Dock in the first place.
