This is great. Very helpful for understanding what is happening. This explanation is for direct connection to a single camera. But how do you adapt this explanation for multiple cameras going to a central cctv dvr box? Is it basically identical?

You either do the por forwarding per IP camera or recorder. If you have a DVR connected to 16 cameras, you just need to set up the port forwarding once (for the DVR). The same is true if you are using NVRs.

Excellent Video! What if there are two routers in series on the DVR side of the internet? It goes from the main router, to an upstairs router/switch, and then to the DVR..

Is this only good for IP Cameras? Is it different if I have Analog Camera? Currently using an Amcrest DVR, I have downloaded the app to my phone. I am able to access the cameras through the app when I am connected to my home network. But once I leave my local network, I cannot and roam or use a work network, I cannot connect.

Thank you for your informative videos. I just set up a Verizon 5G Home Internet Gateway and trying to do the Port Forwarding for my LTS Security Camera System and IP Cameras. I accessed the Verizon 5G Gateway and went into Advance Settings where Port Forwarding was listed. I added my LTS DVR iPv4 address and added Port 80, Port 8000, and Port 8554. Unfortunately it didn't work. Any suggestions? Also I was thinking of adding a router to the Gateway thinking I could plug the LTS Security Camera System into the router and then set up the Port Forwarding on the router rather than the gateway. Interested in your thoughts on this also. Thanks, Ken

You need to log into the camera and see which ports are already setup on the camera. You then just direct the same port in your router.

1. The port number is for this manufacturer only (not usual). You must forward the ports that are described in the device network’s menu if you want to use such services (example port 80 for http or port 443 for https). 2. Different network via the Internet, otherwise it wouldn’t make any sense.

Definitely the best training explanation I’ve ever seen but I have one question if you don’t have a static IP the modem/router will change occasionally and then you lose all your camera viewing and you have to reconfigure the new IP address that the modem has change to. Do you have a solution to keep up with the IP address when they change for your modem so you do not lose your camera and have to reconfigure every time your Internet provider modem IP changes.

Yes, After finishing the Port forwarding process,, use the DynDNS or No-IP DDNS service to solve the dynamic IP problem (The instructions are available on the respective websites).

I have followed your steps and have it set up but when I remotely try to view by phone / pc/ laptop ; after getting to the page where I have to sing in with my user and password a message pops up saying “ Please install plug-in first” When I click on install and go back it still says the same thing . Hello, I seem to have an issue with my PTZ IP camera, I can only view the camera from anywhere in the world on my mobile phone via Guard Viewer ( via P2P ) only if my phone is connected to a WIFi. When I switch to mobile data it does not connect. Do you know how to fix that? I can view the camera via any wifi around the world through the app but not via mobile data!

You probably have an Internet link with dynamic IP, so you dont stop it from changing unless you pay for a service with fix IP. Ask you Internet provider about prices for such option.

Your external IP is control by your ISP (Internet service provider) for more information read about NAT routing protocols.

@@modousowe1414 Yeah. Sure. You can have Dynamic or Static IP given by your ISP depending on the service you have. You can use Port Forwarding and NAT to have access to the devices in your local area network and DDNS to solve the Dynamic IP issue if you want to. ;)

It is required to change your computer into static configuration or dhcp will do?

At first you can use DHCP to get the IP from the router, then you change it to static using the same information to guarantee the IP won’t change.

everything is possible once you forward your port and have access to your remote location but in the video tutorial, he just mentioned how to forward the port but he didn't mention that you home internet IP address was changed after every 12 - 24 hours so to avoid this problem you need DNS account

Good job with explaining, I bought a new hard wired Swann security system & I would like to live view the motion alerted camera on mobile device/phone..I was told to buy a Linksys multi purpose wireless device(cannot use Ethernet cable)so I can have a wireless bridge from dvr to router using wifi bridge (linksys Multi Purpose device using cat 5 E cable) & to router/internet.. Then this video is gonna show me how to connect the camera system to the mobile device? Always used wifi camera system, but we are having late alerts with wifi systems(sometimes 3 hrs late using wifi) connection interruptions/high-low signals so I went with hard wired system with the 1 wifi bridge to reach signal to router.. Does this sound right to you? Thank You for the video..

Some security systems have the cloud service available and I believe that's the case with Swann. So just use their service and you do NOT need port forwarding. Just in case the service is not offered by the manufactuter, just follow the step on the video to port forward for different services such as Web Browser, Client software or Mobile App. It's just a question of using the correct port and you are done.

The title says DVR, but the video clearly shows just an IP camera, DVR could have analog cameras on it, so this video is misleading or incorrect. This video is also three years old as of now 2023. my router access is on an app way different . seems this applies to intelbras equipment? perhaps create an updated video and link it in the more place

i added the DVR to the Port Forwarding. At first the DVR wasnt coming up in the Port Forward list. now its. But when i put the ip address with the port it doesnt connect. i just get the error cant the browser couldnt connect. I have the Zosi H.265 and the modem router (its two in one) "UBC1322 - Ubee"

Hi Raymond. No matter where your buy your camera. If it's an IP camera, you should find it's address in the Network Menu.

I'm wanting to see my DVR on my Mac and the DVR is fully working it can be seen on the TV and on tablets such as an Ipad and Mobile Phones. For me to access the DVR it asks for ActiveX to be installed but that if not mistaken cannot be installed on Mac. I know about IETab chrome extension which does work but I don't want to pay and so it expired. I know about installing virtual windows and going through all that don't want to mess around with all that. - - All I want to know is if I can access my DVR on a browser on my Mac without ActiveX. Can I forward the DVR to a website or something into which allows seeing of my DVR and doesn't need the use of ActiveX?

The principle is the same no matter the camera brand. Unfortunately, I can't do a video for each model out there. Besides that, you are the only person asking specifically for a model. I suggest watching the video and apply the knowledge to your camera.
