My cruise in October has only 5 1/2 hours in Ephesus so I am using the NCL shore excursion. There are three other cruise ships in port that day so it might be more crowded than usual.

We loved Kusadasi, Ephesus and Virgin Mary’s house when there a year ago, almost to the day. I would suggest using the cruise ship excursion though. The extra cost is insurance that the ship will wait for you to get back…..peace of mind. The only drawback is that the guide will bring you to a rug “demonstration” which ends up as a high pressure sales pitch. Our tour guide was fantastic. You can actually leave the excursion at that point since it is at the end and in the town of Kusadasi. Don’t eat near the port, go a few blocks away and get more authentic food. The vendors are aggressive and will do anything to get you in the shop. I bought some things at a soccer team store and they saw the bag Galatasaray bag and used it to start a conversation. Overall, the people who give it bad reviews were unprepared for the place…..

That was our experience as well. But as you stated, if you know what to expect it’s fine. It definitely pays to research.

I had gotten Turkey liras when I was ordering my euros, but it was unnecessary. Euros were widely accepted. In fact at one store had everything priced in Euro, when I gave them lira, they had to recalculate from the Euro price.

Good call out! I went back and checked unedited footage which I have on the channel as well and it’s 40 euros to enter according to the entrance sign. I also checked the receipt I video and did the conversion from Turkish Lira and worked out to 40 euros.

As soon as you get out of secure part it to your right about 2 mins down. You of course have people offering you rides right as you exit but if you walk 2 mins they are all in one location. Depends on which plan you have. The lower Essential plan you would but the top two plans you don’t need too. You can call them from your T-Mobile phone by dialing 611 to find out which plan you have or if you know Google “Which T-Mobile plans cover Europe”
