I am speechless and disgusted at the vast amount of rubbish. I am a Mauritian but born abroad, however I consider Mauritius my home. I visit whenever I can and plan to finally settle there one day. To see how people treat their beautiful island with all this pollution is heartbreaking. Of course it is not only the inhabitants of the island throwing rubbish into the sea and streets, tourists as well. If this is not a wake up call for the government of Mauritius then I don’t know what is. Surely it’s not too difficult to place more rubbish bins around the island. Thank you for sharing and highlighting this issue.

I know Port Louis very well and was there during Belal. After all, this gave them the opportunity to dispose of the garbage thrown into the sea and lying in the streets in a proper way.

Not true! Very little structural damage. A lot of rubbish washed ashore in Caudan, Port Louis, and many cars damaged in flash floods caused by by 6 iinches of rainfall in 2 hours. Had the authorities raised the alert level sooner, all the vehicle damage could have been avoide. To use the word devastation is a gross exaggeration. Hence I thumbs downed this video.
