From somebody who was born and raised in Port Moresby, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS. I ALSO LOVE YOUR BACKGROUND, I LIKE how it portrays how a typical Port Moresby household looks like.

As i can say i Love my New Home Port Moresby, although we say it has its good and bad, well its the same around the Globe we just have to embrace it, its our city most of all the place we called home.

I was born raise on Manus Island but came to Port Moresby in the late 80s. And since then Moresby has been home. Despite it's problems, I have seen Moresby improves so greatly. And if it continues this trend of change, it will be a great City in the future.

Great vid mate. I have a huge soft spot for PNG, I was born in Lae and spent the first 5 to 6 years living there. I remember heaps from that time. I have been backa few times and got to work in Moresby in 1990 for a year or so. Been back in 2017 and 2018 and noticed a few changes ;-) Got a lot of mates that still live/work there and am ALWAYS up to visiting again.

Now I'am here in Saudi Arabia, we have flight there from Manila to Port Moresby and planning to visit there someday. Can you do a vlog about SARAGA street in Moreatoba road in 6 MILES ,(if possible). if your coming from Jackson airport, take the Moreatoba RD, It's actually on right side the SARAGA ST.- I guess. Been away from PNG for the past two years with just video calls being the slightest connection of feeling that "home" feeling, i couldn't stop the tears at 1:42 when the music started after you said "so, welcome to Port Moresby". Been waiting for this video. Music too ya please. ("i can't get you off my mind"). oh ples u stap long we ya... Been waiting for more Papua New Guineans to start tapping into this platform and advertise ourselves, showing it from our side. We seem to have always been accepting other people come and document us - mostly the negativity. Why can't we do it ourselves? Great video buddy. We need a lot more videos like this. I have some video suggestions, try doing videos like the following: 1. Good places to dine at Port Moresby (restaurants - including those hosted in hotels) 2. Suburbs of Port Moresby (showcase different suburbs. You can even do a Port Moresby Suburb season and on each episode, go and showcase each suburb. Talk to people and see how they see life from their perspectives) 3. Good places for picnic in and around Port Moresby(or even along the highway) 4. Different nationalities living in Port Moresby(including Papua New Guineans too. hehehe) 5. Since we are the most linguistically diversed country, why not go around and ask random people of how many different languages they can speak. Ask them to say phrases you want them to say. Sampla idea tasol. Keep it coming bro!!! Cheers. #cheersFromEurope #fullBloodedIslander

Good vlog. I appreciate the down to earth, keeping it real approach. You are a good ambassador for PNG, keep up the good work. Just one question that is quite baffling for me but there is no clear-cut explanation hence I have to ask you with no offence intended - How did you acquire an American accent if you were born and raised in POM? Did you hang out with American missionaries elsewhere in PNG? In a funny way I would understand if the accent was Australian or Kiwi but you opted for a country 11,000 km away from POM? Or was it a contrived effort on your part to change your natural accent and learn a polished way of communication (hence the general American accent)?
@Logan43154 жыл бұрын
Firstly, thank you very much! Secondly, I’m not going to say i had a conscious choice in the matter, because as i was growing up, i really didn’t. So, the closest explanation i can give you is that growing up, i was exposed more to American tv than to other people, i basically grew up watching television and movies, and whether i like it or not, how characters spoke to each other rubbed off on me. I had quite a sheltered childhood, i was kept at home a lot, so i turned to media as a form of entertainment as well as education. I really didn’t think much of it because i assumed the rest of the world and my country spoke the same way - until i met other people later in my life that weren’t family, and they pointed out how ‘white’ i sounded. At that point in my life, i really couldn’t give 2 fucks, so i decided i wasn’t going to put effort into changing it.
@joehillary69814 жыл бұрын
@@Logan4315 Excellent and fascinating. I've noted this American accent trend being picked up by younger Papua New Guineans as well. Your explanation, re exposure to media (tv, movies) is the most valid I've heard so far and this can be applied to other PNG'eans with slight or full American accents. Also, in case you didn't know, way back in the early days American Lutheran missionaries in Enga taught English to the locals and a few of these Engans ended up speaking english with American accents before knowing how to speak pidgin. As you're already doing don't pay attention to the "yu ting yu wait man" comments and just keep on keeping on.

I want to ask about safety of PNG. It is now the second dangerous country in the world, is this because of tribal wars or cities are just like Mexico's cartel areas too (similar violency)?
@walhospalisa35774 жыл бұрын
Can you please supply the source of your information that says that Papua New Guinea is the second most dangerous country in the world? According to World Population Review (worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-dangerous-countries), PNG is NOT even in the top 10, or top 20, or even top 50 of the most dangerous counties in the world. It's this type of sensationalized comments, statements and reports that taint the image of PNG globally. Even for the most dangerous countries for women, PNG is NOT even in the top 10 countries according to Thomson Reuters Foundation (poll2018.trust.org/).
