Very nice video. :-) And I must say that the Port Authority building was amazing. Love the old and new/"futuristic" look combined.

In the 1950's I used to be taken to Southampton and we had a similar cruise around the docks. Then the ships were largely passenger or passenger/cargo, British or American flagged, and many, like the Cunard "Queens" were Clyde-built. How times have changed! I spent the summers of the early 1970's cycle racing in Belgium, based in Ghent, and on the days we weren't racing we'd often go for a "coffee-ride" alongside the Zee Kanaal that led from the Dutch Zeeland Flanders town of Terneuzen on the Schelde estuary to the inland port of Ghent, though we circumvented the industrial area at the Ghent end! It was strange to hear the beat of a ship's engines and see a big vessel apparently gliding through the countryside. Going to races in the Antwerp area we'd pass under the Schelde by way of the "Kennedy" Tunnel on the autoroute, which had separate bores for the motorway lanes, cycles, and foot passengers in each direction. I've always enjoyed boat trips and ferry crossings, so your postings from around the World are always interesting and informative, Thank you for posting them.

Thanks for the tour of Port of Antwerp! A town I have never stopped in but driven through lots of times on my way from Gothenburg to Ghent and back. Happy New Year! // Bertil.

@@msmarinediesel1843 Belgian beers are my favourites. Working with new cars at Volvo Cars and with a factory in Ghent there were many opportunities during my more than 60 business trips there.

I have done the antwerp harbour cruise many times ,on the video there does not seem too many ships in port on the day ,however the large tankers are crude carriers the smaller ones are chemical or product tankers ,.you are right there was a container terminal in the delwaidedock this was msc,European home port how ever there is a huge new Dock on th e opposite side or the river called the deurdanck Dock this also has a large lock to it,but the ships can get into the river without using the lock.the container ships now use this Dock it it is also the home of msc the Mediterranean shipping company. I would suggest that shipping enthusiasts like my self also go to terneuzen not only will you see ships going to and from antwerp you will also catch all sorts going through th new locks to ghent you will see every thing from coasters to large bulk carriers here there are also hotels in ternuezen plus at a place called sluiskil,I can guarantee you will.not be dis appointed here

Enjoyed your video-- took that cruise-- I included it in my video on Bruges and Antwerp. The Port Authority building is also the Maritime Museum, I believe, what a marvel, I agree! I liked and subscribed. Please check my video out if you have time. I liked yours better! Best and Cheers! Pete Renault
