Coming back to Seattle from Cordova we almost stopped at Port Portection but decided to go to Hoonah instead since there was a bigger transient dock. I do watch the show and find it very interesting.
@havaseas2 жыл бұрын
I think Port Protection is more interesting. It is a very remote community. Hoonah has created a tourism area by the cruise ships.... people sometimes focus on that instead of the actual community.

Hello 😊 If one were to boat non-stop from Wrangell to port protection how long would it take ? It looks about 100 miles ? Are the waters calmer in that area ?
@havaseas5 ай бұрын
I don’t have those charts loaded right now because we are on the east coast. Eric says less than 100 miles. The waters are pretty protected.

Love your videos and commentary. As I write this you are about 30 minutes from Dodds Narrows according to AIS. Saw you go by Qualicum Beach earlier today and took a photo.

I am curious why do you have the two bow ropes attached to the anchor chain I assume it is to stabilise your anchorage but a fuller description as to the why's and implementation would be cool please. By the way fade out the intro section music prior to the transition to the video filmed, will be more slick. There are just so many idilic spots in your neck of the woods, I am so envious, I live on a barge in the UK and its all very quintessentially English regarding my journeys out and about, little villages trees and fields etc, but would love your scenery.

It is an anchor bridle. It changes the angle of the anchor rode. The N55 bow is around 10 feet off the surface of the water. The bridle changes the anchor chain to start the angle about 2 feet above the water. This changes the angle of the anchor rode so the anchor holds better by reducing the angle to the anchor shank. I hope that makes sense. I will try the fade away for the next intro which I will be having to prepare soon. So cool that someone from England is watching our videos!

@havaseas2 жыл бұрын
We are exploring the option of going smaller! Everyone seems to want bigger, but we think life may be less complicated going smaller. We still have empty spaces on the boat. We will see what happens.... spring is coming and we are getting antsy to get back on the water cruising.....

I watch a TV program about Port Protection all about the lives of its inhabitants. Trials and tribulations it’s very interesting. Oh and the beer , wine liquor and tops rolling papers that’s about every thing you need. 😂
