I built my own portaband table and absolutely love it. I ended up welding a toggle clamp to the bottom of the table which keeps the saw locked in place it makes changing out blades really fast and don't have to worry about losing a screw. Its super convenient and I end up using it for all sorts of little cutting tasks be it wood or metal.
@Warshipmodelsunderway3 жыл бұрын
I have had that table for a while now, holding a Harbor Freight Bauer brand saw. Just for giggles, after I put it together I grabbed a chunk of railroad track someone gave me and cut it with the saw, using the blade it came with and just a little CRC foamy tap fluid. Darned if it didn't cut the stuff with remarkable ease; 3 cuts to break up the track into usable chunks, and one to shave the top as the first step into making a small anvil. All with the original blade, which I guess was made on a Tuesday LOL. Anyway, I think you will get a lot of enjoyment out of this, congrats!

My son and I have been using the table with an HF saw for a couple years now. Really nice. I've just had the table in a vise so I can move it if needed. I think the foot switch and legs might need to added though. Really nice.

I bought one of the old table tops from Swag a few years ago (just the top - clamps in my bench vise). I threw the HF Bauer band saw on it (the included blade was crap but the saw is great) and it became one of the most useful tools in my shop - more than I ever imagined.

Been using the table with a SWAG table with a Harbor Freight "Bauer" saw for close to three years. Outstanding combination. The table is a rock. Tried to get a miter gauge but couldn't find one.. Actually found that the miter gauge on my table saw works fine. This saw will handle an 1 1/2 steel bar and with lighter flat stock goes thru like grease thru a goose. Must have tool if you are metal working.

I made a wall mount for mine and then used an inline foot pedal switch with a velcro strap on the trigger. The foot switch makes it quick and easy to walk up and take a cut and walk away.

David almost proved why foot pedal switches can be risky. Always the inadvertent step on the switch totally by accident which causes one. Personally had it happen but only turned on a dust collector. Just saying.

My problem with this, as cool as it is, is that this saw is $300 and that swag table is like $170, and for about the same price or a little less you can just get a variable tabletop bandsaw that will be so much more quiet and not take all the setup and finagling this does. Not to mention it be much safer than just strapping a trigger button down and plugging it in and out as your on off switch. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to be insulting here, but I’ve seen lot of people suggest this for knife making, and the price point just doesn’t make sense.
