I bought mine about a week ago due to the fact that I had a swarm of lady bugs . To my surprise a few of the ladybugs got zapped along with a few other insects. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase.!

I bought a three pack of those at Costco for about $35, I think they work OK, like you pointed out in small spaces. Anything to keep the bugs away! Nice review!

I have another branded version of this exact unit (the orange/grey one) I have way more success if I turn the lantern part off during dusk and at night in the dark and have just the purple mosquito light on. That's not in the instructions but I was sure I read or heard someone talking about not using the lantern at the same time if you don't need the light, just using the mosquito killer purple light (UV wave length) on having a lot more success.

The problem I have read about the bug zapper machines is that they can attract bugs into your camp that would normally pass it by. So you get some fried bugs, but they might be replaced by new, light attractive bugs. I would do a test - count the number of bug bites in an hour - then turn it on, and count the bites. If it does no better, you are just frying bugs, not preventing bites. Also, look at the kind of bugs you have zapped - if they are not mosquitoes, you are killing beneficial insects. I can't link to a good article (because YT deletes links), but do a search for this title - "Do Bug Zappers Work? Yeah-About As Well As Any Other Indiscriminate Wildlife Slaughter."

I had bought a couple of these, and it just so happened this week a Transformer blew, and we were out of power, I remembered buying these and got them out and was amazed at how well they light the room... Great Review 👍👍👍

Nice review. We went for one that was a lot bigger and does not work that well. Good test and looks like it works for a not bad price.

I will have to pick one up! I usually use thermocell. Can you turn light off but still have zapper on? Then uv light might attract more bugs into zapper ... at least in a small space. Nice review!

How does the thermocell work? You can have either light on separately! When you are up to it, we should head to Alum Creek! Hope you're feeling better.

Looks like a cool product if it really works. Too bad it’s not usbc all things should be usbc now. Not including usbc is a deal breaker at this point. You did great on this review

I was shocked that it did actually work! I usually dismiss this stuff, but it was a gift. You will have to gear reviews when you start incorporating a camping segment!!

We live in Charleston, SC where mosquitos are as big as dogs. Bugs are not the issue. Did you find dead mosquitos also? Thanks and thanks for the video.

I don't recall finding mosquitos, but it did kill some tiny insects. I use it more for lighting than a bug zapper. I love Charleston by the way! Thanks for watching.
