Do not use any 12 volt heater connected directly to the lighter plug. Doing so will cook the socket. Connect to highest amperage available, or the battery. Chances are very good that none of these car heaters will offer enough heat to knock-out the chill in car.

hi i im planing to use portable 12volts car heater deffoger but my question can cigarette plug can handle 800watts?
@paulturner3553 Жыл бұрын
@@superkari28, I cooked a cigarette lighter socket from using a Harbor Freight 12 volt car heater. I would connect a sufficient heater going directly to the battery, or a high enough fused point to run any car heating device. I take it that your heater core is a leaker?
@superkari28 Жыл бұрын
ok so you mean to say that its better to connect directly to the battery? doesnt required any fuses?
@paulturner3553 Жыл бұрын
@@superkari28, With the right gauge wires and fuse, there is no risk of melting wires. Know the maximum amp draw from the electric heater and have large enough gauge wire that will not melt wire insulation. You will have to do your own homework to figure out what works best for your needs.

My experience with these electric heaters is that the larger ones work (at least 600 watts). BUT.....do not plug ANY of them into the cigarette lighter!!!! They have to be wired to the battery & an appropriate size fuse has to be put into the positive line.

Turn your heater off in your truck and leave the portable heater running for 10 minutes then check the thermometer.

Get a 1000 watt inverter and a 200 or 400 watt ceramic heater.🤔

Unless you can get a high enough amp 12 volt heater, it's no way Jose. Any heater good enough to heat will require a direct connect to the battery, and this with the car running. Electric is the most inefficient form of heat.

@@paulturner3553 ...thanks Paul. I didn't think these little heaters would do anything. I guess I'll just have to knuckle-down and pull my dash out, to replace the heater core. Hope the truck is worth it?!
@paulturner35532 жыл бұрын
@@timcoolican459, Depending on how old the truck, that might not be easy on newer truck. Changing anti-freeze more often might also be a good idea. We have a 1989 Honda Civic. I drain the radiator every other year and refill because water pumps don't last long in these cars for some reason.
