I typically only watch women's channels on youtube if they are wearing bikinis. The reason I mention this is because when I watch April's videos, I get lost by her amazing presentations that are direct-to-the-point intelligent as well as methodical. I get so overwhelmed by the vast amounts of knowledge she is sharing that I forget that she is in fact an amazingly beautiful woman. This woman is a real deal craftsman and I applaud her commitment to learning everything about a topic before addressing us with it.

I own a logosol bigmill with the 9’ foot aluminum beam and extrusions that attach to each end of the log. I use a Dolmar chainsaw which is about 80cc. I’ve enjoyed sawing with it over the years but because of my back I must sell... if anybody is looking for a good deal. I can’t say a bad thing about Logosol. Very good build quality! There’s nothing like taking a log from the woods that would just rot away and turning it in to something beautiful. April enjoy your new Logosol!

April, as a woodworker whose days are past me. Let me comment on a few things. At the age of 71 and a man who did not protect his lungs I hope that you wear a mask. I am sure you do and fully understand it's not feasible to wear during a video. But please protect your Lungs, eyes, and ears. Second as I have 2 grown daughters who both have successful careers I know how Proud your Mom and Dad are of you. You have the business mind of a lady much older than you are. Only having recently discovering your channel on You Tube, you have had my full attention and have marathoned some sets of your videos. Will be seeing them all before I quit. Waiting for the next one already. Your projects are not of a level that anyone that has more than a skil-saw can tackle or at least try. Wow, I could keep on praising your efforts all day. You, as I have understood for a long time that making saw dust is therapeutic.

Great walk through. Looks like you have the F2 and the F2+. I just bought the F2+ last year and I really like it. I was hoping that it would cut wider slabs though. I also have the mill setup in 1/2 size mode. So the stands are about 1m (3' apart). I have an MS 660 but am limited to 24" bar if I use the carriage. I'm going to design a carriage for my 36" bar. I'm milling short but large diameter logs. I had to use my Granberg recently on a large walnut log that was only 55" long and would have loved to be able to use the Logosol.

There’s a guy on the show “Mountain Men” (Marty) that is a trapper. He flies to his trapping grounds in Alaska and stays in log cabins all winter when trapping. He used a chainsaw mill very similar, maybe same name brand, to build his cabins. He flew the mill out to his very remote locations in a small plane. Then he’d take each piece of the mill to the build site. He would cut each tree and then use this mill to mill the logs and build his cabins. So if he could get his out to his places in a small aircraft and build several cabins I believe this would be great for anyone to use

Question> I noticed that there appeared to be a para-cord type rope that elevated / lowered your logs with your Logosol. Is there any concern for that to weather if left outside? And how is it attached? I'm pondering which set-up I want to go with to cut hardwoods (ie: OAK) and I keep coming back to the Logosol. My concern is with 24" or larger dia oak logs that are 12' or longer. THANK YOU for this vid and all of the others!! Keep it up

How do you load a log on the F2 if you don’t have a tractor with a grapple or gravity hook? You travel to a location, unload the F2 and set it up remotely, then what if you don’t have a way to get the log on the machine? Are there winching attachments to pull a 1000 lb log onto the machine?
@kimpoole43124 жыл бұрын
This is exactly the issue I have experienced with remote milling. Logs are heavy and unless you have heavy machinery it is a huge struggle. Also I can see this lightweight structure being easily damaged by a heavy log or tractor.
@jimmyyounger6182 жыл бұрын
Man! Decisions, decisions. I really like what I've seen of this mill, but I might have to go with the Granberg. It's sort of a portable vs. really, really portable issue. No doubt I'd rather have the log up on the supports, but some of the trees I'm after are across a drainage and up a hill even my tractor can't get to with some large diameter trees. The lengths I'm hoping to cut will be 12+ feet and above timbers which will be plenty challenging to get out of the woods. Needing to work on a slope and pretty much where the tree falls, I don't see an option other than the Granberg(?)
@robinwood49114 жыл бұрын
April I enjoy your videos. Just a question about how do you put a log of any size on the mill without taking a tractor or such to load it? It seems it defeats the purpose of taking the mill to the log. What is the max diameter of log that you can put on mill? If you can get your truck to log...then what is stopping you from taking log arch trailer? I understand the multi trip thing. :)

Thx for the run-thru. I had looked at these a year or so ago. Love the technology and craftsmanship. At the time I do t think they had the slabber. I don’t see the advantage of needing lifting all logs up on this model. It seems like it also would limit the size and shape that would fit comfortably up on this machine. I won’t be doing a lot of commercial work, maybe none. But I have about 50 logs of my own that I want to cut and save for my own use. I had given some serious thought to a Grandburg. But it seemed kind of klunky and slow. Milled lumber in Southern, IN is fairly cheap because everybody and their brother seems to have a mill. But the Big Slabber seems like it might just be what I’m really looking for. Why didn’t you look at that model? It does look like it will take more time between cuts to re-set the runners. But it sure looks like The Big Slabber is more stable than a Granburg and it sure looks like it’s faster than a Gbrg on the cut. I value your thoughts, love your channel- what am I missing? I’m pretty sure I want to buy a Big Slabber.
