Regarding the cellular modem, both Windows and OSX have the ability to identify a particular wifi connection as "metered," which can help avoid the system update downloads that you mentioned concern for. However, someone should be regularly checking for & installing updates to ensure they don't cause everything to slow down on Sunday.

I have worked with blackmagic and have found that slingstudio has been a much better on the go rig. Here is few things which I found that made it a nice win. Wireless (Makes setup time so much more easy and no messy cable runs and tape), IPAD wireless APP so you can run everything from anywhere. Automatic upscaling/downscaling for different camera feeds, Internet upload bandwidth live upscale/downscale depending on internet bandwidth. A big plus is the cost is much much cheaper than what it would cost to build this rig. It is a much simpler rig and easier to train people to use it.

*Great setup Brother, but with all due respect, I can think of several small to mid sized congregations (Including my own), who could not possibly afford the price tag associated with your setup. I am in agreement with the technical feasibility and design of your excellent quality setup, but we both know well these dedicated switchers, video encoders, audio mixers, MBP lappy setup, and cameras are really pricey. It's not as much as what it used to cost to do it, but I can't see your setup costing much less than $20,000.00 USD (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). However, what cannot be disputed is the simple fact you have designed and built a great live video broadcast portable setup that is quite intriquing.*

Fortunately everything in this setup can be run from a computer such as the Mac mini m1 and if you’re looking for cameras that are less than $500 a piece you could purchase Panasonic g7’s or canon t3i’s which output 1080 video and allow you to change lenses and grow your setup. The whole thing can be achieved for as little as $1500 assuming you don’t already have a computer or cameras

AKA most Macs output at 60 frames but if your ATEM Studio is set to 24 frames the Mac will not show up

@flefer5064 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video as always! But I do have some wonderings.. Not to burst your bubble but is the Smart Videohub really necessary for what you're doing? I don't know for sure but I'm fairly confident you could go directly out of the switcher using SDI ports 1-4 to supply those extra program feeds for the LCD, Hyperdeck and Resi encoder. According to what I've read the SDI output ports are designed to feed into Blackmagic cameras for remote camera control but they also can work as PGM feed distribution. I don't know that for sure though, if you happen to do a test I'd love to know if those ports work for PGM feeds. As for the main ProPresenter feed, you could route that into the switcher and out the AUX out to your stage display. This also adds the flexibility of being able to switch camera feeds into stage displays for IMAG if needed.
@matthewbaxter51204 жыл бұрын
Could also go PGM out to HyperDeck, with SDI A out to Smartview and B to encoder, or out Smartview to encoder (or encoder to Smartview if you have one with SDI out). I always try to get my monitor as close to the end as possible so I'm watching what my devices are receiving not just what my switcher is sending.

Hi Jake, great video. My church is interested in the 12x12. We've got nearly the same build you've got there. We're struggling choosing a video standard to use. Our DLRS cameras output at 29.94 fps, BM switcher picks them up at 1080p30 so thats fine. But our Sony xd-cam only outputs in 24 or 60. And our PTZ cannot do 1080p60 with BM switcher because they have different SDI generations/standards. 2 vs 3 I think? Anyway, the 12x12 doesn't do any converting, does it? I am reading that it is inputting any standard. Great! but does it just through put, or does it convert to get to the right frame rates that the BM switcher will be happy with?
