At 56:12 I can picture Wheatley's voice fading out with a POV shot of Chell staring at the moon while everything else blurs out, then slowly raising her portal gun, glancing back at Wheatley while he rants, then taking a deep breath before there's a slow motion shot of the portal gun firing. There is a splitscreen of the portal opening into space from Aperture, and Wheatley staring at the portal from the moon's surface, horrified at what Chell has done before the actual cutscene ensues.
@everything_on_red3 жыл бұрын
Here's my top ten tracks: 10. I AM NOT A MORON - It immediately brings me back to that sinking feeling of Wheatley's betrayal. 9. Ghost of Rattman - I was drawn to the original because of Rattman's schizophrenic ramblings--he's actually my favorite character. This version, even without his voice, manages to give me even more chills by emphasizing the absurd liminal horror of abandoned Aperture Science. 8. 15 Acres of Broken Glass - Quite beautiful and haunting, and I love the--tinkly? idk--sounds. It just sounds like glass. 7. You Will Be Perfect - This one is just so aggressive and epic. When I listen to it I feel Chell's anger at being trapped forever. 6. Reconstructing More Science - I've literally never seen anyone say they don't like Reconstructing More Science. The Portal fandom has spoken, it's a bop. This version is both nostalgic and full of excitement. 5. Cara Mia Addio - It builds in the most terrific way. The church bells really sell the triumphant ending. It feels vast and yet far away at the same time, like Aperture Science itself as we rise from the earth. 4. Bring Your Daughter to Work Day - A bit of an unusual pick, but I think the storytelling of this track is just amazing. It starts out exciting and happy, looking towards the future with not a care in the world, and then things come crashing down. One of my favorite parts of Portal 2 was seeing the science fair, this scene from the past--our past--frozen in time at the moment everything went up in smoke. Bring Your Daughter to Work Day feels like a tragedy telling its own story. 3. Music of the Spheres 2 (Incendiary Lemons) - It's just so chaotic and desperate, it really captures the essence of Cave Johnson's final days. I like how it mirrors Music of the Spheres, showing how far Aperture has fallen. I legitimately thought I heard screaming the first time I listened to this. 2. PotatOS Lament - This song is literally just wailing of the damned. I love it. 1. Turret Wife Serenade - It was my favorite on the original soundtrack, and you made it electro-swing? Hell yeah! I can't even articulate why this is so perfect, I just--I want a pet turret. What are your favorites?

"There She Is" and "You Know Her?" are absolutely my main two favourites I think. I listen to this regularly on repeat and every time that comes on, I'm always brought back to that chamber and first big reveal. It's even more epic in this than the game. I feel the dread of her coming back online more listening to this than the last time I played the scene for sure. It's truly a musical narrative, near perfectly mirroring the game, while still having its own identity. Honestly a masterpiece, in honour of another masterpiece.

I like this soundtrack better than the original! • "I Saw a Deer Today" - This song is a musical adrenaline rush. • "Turret Wife Serenade" - This song has been on repeat for days and motivates me to work at my standing desk so I can dance around. Thank you for making IT work fun. • "I Made It All Up" - This song is quite lovely. Peaceful and dreamy. And I like the hint of reverb. • "Bots Build Bots" - I really enjoy this song's rhythm and beat, especially with the choir. • "Don't Do It" - This track is hands down my favorite on this soundtrack. It always gives me chills, especially the heavy, chunking clock ticking faster and louder, like the clock tower in "The Great Mouse Detective." Possibly my favorite part of this entire soundtrack. I also enjoy the eerie choir in the background and the tension building to that epic crescendo. • "I AM NOT A MORON" - The upbeat start and exultant, jolly vibe are infections. The sound effects (32:46) remind me of shrieks... I can't tell what they are, but they sound cool and unique. • "Cara Mia Addio" - Bittersweet, and I love the grandiose sound and beautiful choir again. • "Some Assembly Required" - So giddy and infectious and dance-inducing! The whole soundtrack leaves me feeling so enthusiastic and happy. I appreciate all the work that went into creating it. I'll be listening to this masterpiece for years to come.

I love this. My only complaint would be that I think I AM NOT A MORON should have more of its original melody, but otherwise, it conveyed a sense of shock and betrayal. Overall this gave me chills, amazing and outstanding work. Can’t wait for the extended versions for some of them. Turret Wife Serenade with electro swing was a surprise, but a great one. Cara Mia Addio is just amazing, it’s beautiful and haunting. Reconstructing More Science is also great. Want You Gone is good, but better with lyrics imo. The Part Where He Kills You is just absolutely stunning. I would love for a mod that replaces it in-game somehow but I know that’s probably impossible. Your Precious Moon sent chills down my body, amazing work. For most of the Wheatley tracks they have this sense of chaos, someone who really doesn’t know what he’s doing. The underground tracks have a feeling of something abandoned and old, yet still amazing and functional. This gave me immense nostalgia, Thank you. I hope this is given more attention.

THIS ENTIRE THING WAS STELLAR HOLY CRAP I've GOT to come back and say about specific parts that stunned me im not gonna get all of them and im gonna come back to smooth this out but- -The notes of Still Alive at the very end oh my god. oh my god -Something about the atmosphere set with There She Is/You Know Her made me read the title of You Know Her with. Familiarity? as a grand statement instead of as a panicked question. No idea why that stood out to me but it did and i think its a good thing. -LOVE the melody and the EVERYTHING you did with The Friendly Faith Plate and I Saw A Deer Today. -The horns in I Am Different.. fantastic -the chiptune(?) part of Turret Wife serenade that starts at 16:06 is so perfect for that song.. -the! the noise in I Made It All Up bounces around if you wear headphones!! this song in particular reminds me of portal 1... the more atmospheric feel of it, and also it makes me think of an energy pellet ricocheting around the room haha -echo-y cave-y Triple Laser Phase good yesyesyes -THE TRANSITION BETWEEN COMEDY EQUALS TRAGEDY PLUS TIME AND YOU WILL BE PERFECT. THE GUITAR. HELL YEAH!! -The into of bots build bots is so good and i LOVE how much of the hard/harsh sound of it you kept while adding so much -The orchestral parts of Die Cut Laser Dance???? good good good good -The seamless transition into Bring Your Daughter to Work day AND then the transition into Almost At 50 Percent?? -Almost At 50 Percent itself is so good too very intense? is that the word? building up to something. which I'm sure is what you were going for and you nailed it. -i really like how Dont Do It uses like.... spooky sounds from Robot Ghost Story.. -Don't Do It is an excellent fusion of Wheatley Sounds and GLaDOS Sounds -AND THE CLOCK TICKING/GEAR TURNING SOUNDS!!!! i am a sucker for that specifically and I LOVE IT HERE. I LOVE HOW OVERWHELMINGLY INTENSE THEY GET IN I AM NOT A MORON AND THE BELL SOUND AT THE CUTOFF IM YELLING. OH MY GOD -i love the way the celebratory part sort of breaks down even before it stops. -ONCE AGAIN loving the use of the spooky sounds to start off the third part of I AM NOT A MORON. love that SO MUCH. the associating them with Wheatley earlier and using them here yes yes yesyes -THE SHARP SCRATCHING SOUNDS. BOTH THE BUZZING AND THE STRINGS. GOOD HELL YEAH. EVERYTHING IS COMING APART AT THE SEAMS BUT GOD DAMN DOES IT SOUND FANTASTIC! -also maybe it's the been doing a lot of listening to old games' OST with hurts-your-ears sound quality lately, but good job making the sharp harsh high-pitched sounds not painful to listen to!! -I HEAR A CROW

And Im glad you liked the clock ticking. It resembles how the hour has come, how the story is progressing to this very moment, the moment glados gets taken down. The bell at the end resembles the press of the button, and the second bell later on is an echo of the action the press had, and its impact on the story. The crows during the action are a reference to death, and the crow you hear when the music has stopped is a reference to the crow that you see ingame after waking up in old aperture.

The thing I love about this most is how well every song blends together. And the fact that the portal 2 OST is already insanely good set the bar already skyhigh but God. You made it even better. My serious respect

My god. This whole album is fantastic! I've followed for a long while, and each remix you do just gets better and better. Oh, I wish each of these songs could be extended! If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be "The Part Where He Kills You." The original is great, but it doesn't have as much variation and character as this remix. The hard hits and zippy synth arpeggios are a perfect cold-open to the song. Then, the violins cutting through the mix in between bass synth runs is mixed beautifully and has such a crisp sound as it builds tension at the next section of the piece. I love that the drums are heavy as anything and are at the center of the drive. Right before the epic (in Homer's sense) chorus comes in, the high-saw-synth in the left ear mimics the strings beautifully, and then every instrument sings together with that menacing melody. My favorite bit: original solos written for different instruments, one after another, starting with that same high-saw-syth in the left ear and the chorus in the background. My only wish is that the original solos at the height of the song lasted longer! That one super high synth in the right ear at about 50:02 is just crying out to take a huge 8-16 bar solo right there! This section is followed by a solo breakdown of organ and metal guitar that calls us back to "Reconstructing More Science." Huge bass hits, long brass and chorus tones, and a piano/strings arpeggio end the song and transition us perfectly into "Omg, What Has He Done?" And another thing: no transition feels forced, as you tend to get with some medleys that have to cover such a wide soundtrack! When I sit down to listen to one song, I just find myself listening to the whole album! I know the opinion of a rando on the internet is worthless, but it's all complements anyway, and who doesn't like to be flattered? Brilliant job, Danbero and Vandoorea! I can't wait to hear what's next! Keep testing!

Thank you for the comment. I wasn't expecting someone to break that much into detail for one track. The part at 50:02 that you mentioned was a phase from a remix I originally just made for my channel. For some tracks I had difficulties to stay close to the original, and when we started to remix "the part where he kills you" I didn't know what to do except for the strings and the brass. I liked how it was, with out me having a "bigger" part in it, and I didn't want to ruin it. I couldn't imagine much of an orchestra in "the part where he kills you". I then went back to my remix and made a cut to the section you mentioned and put it right after the actual remix. Thank you, I wasn't expecting someone to like that much.

I absolutely adore the mix of what, to me, sounds like orchestral and 1930's to 40's cartoon music sprinkled into what was originally set out with the base music. Specifically the Turret Wife Serenade. That part gave me some serious 30's cartoon vibes. Great mix y'all, absolutely holds up to the feeling of Portal 2 and its mysteriousness, valve would be proud!

Suddenly, I wanted to listen to cara mia addio, I accidentally settled on this playlist. I really like this song It's fun while keeping the portal's sensibility Thanks for making this song.

It sounds so good! I love how Halls of Science 4 sounded. It sounded cute at first but my jaw dropped at 20:58 when I heard blues chords being played. Same goes with Turret Wife Serenade. You made it electro-swing and even putting a Ragtime piano part at the start. Honestly I think it's really clever and creative to incorporate these. Loving your work on these remixes!

What I need is a full version of the Machiavellian Bach in this, it gives such an amazing vibe and is so different than other versions out there. it almost sounds as if Wheatley is watching everything that's happening and an inner voice is telling him he might be doing something very wrong, it is something I would love to see someone animate with Wheatley having very mixed feelings about what he's doing and get even more upset and than just yea. Great Music!!
