UPDATE: TO THOSE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING NO AUDIO AFTER LOADING THE CUSTOM TEXTURE 1) In-game, make sure you have the developer console enabled (Options -> Keyboard/Mouse -> Allow Developer Console -> Enable) 2) Hit the tilde key (~) to open the developer console (this key is located to the left of 1 and above TAB on the keyboard) 3) Enter in the following console commands: snd_rebuildaudiocache snd_updateaudiocache This should fix it! It's always a good idea to at least glance and see if there are any settings you want to change. Otherwise, you can end up with packaged bloatware installing along with the program you're downloading because you didn't untick a checkbox hiding somewhere.

Just for anyone who broke their game by doing this cause I did it too. If portal just stops wanting to work when you do this. In steam on portal 2 right click it press properties go to installed files and press "Verify integrity of game files." Wait for it to load Then close that window and redo it again to make sure it fixed the files then portal 2 will work again. It might reset files you add tho.

Hey, so, for everybody wondering how to drag-and-drop pak01_dir onto vpk, just put vpk on your desktop, then drag tier0.dll and vstdlib.dll onto it from the resources file, put vpk back into the resources file, and then you can drag-and-drop pak01_dir onto it.

ive seen alot of comments about this isnt working, if it isnt working for you and it was in early 2020 to present, it wont work because of windows 10 and winrar. if you want this to work in stable windows 10 builds, you have to buy winrar.

The world model is seperate from the first person model (viewmodel), you'd have to change the texture of that as well.

create a new folder inside weapons called 'w_models', create a new folder inside that called 'portalgun', then move the w_portalgun.vtf over

in pak01_dir.vpk, there's a folder called "w_models" in materials/models/weapons, the worldmodel texture (the texture used for the portal gun when it's on the ground). if you're looking for the specific model, it's in models/weapons (not the models folder in materials)
