PORTAL 2 - MOVIE SOUNDTRACK CHAPTER 1 (COMPLETE OST HANS ZIMMER STYLE) Arrangement ~ Danbero

The soundtrack of Portal 2 composed to sound like a movie score.
This game's whole build up and execution of the story was one of the best I've ever experienced and the 3 dimensional soundtrack by Mike Morasky made at least half of the game. So I don't want to insult the original game by creating a cheap remix.
The whole idea came down to taking the most iconic moments in of the original soundtrack as well as the motifs and then recompose everything to make it sound like it would play during a movie.
I want to give 12 million gabloons everyone in my community for all the positive feedbacks I got on the old complete soundtrack orchestra. (I love you).
I never wanted to upload it back then but if I wouldn't have then the 10th year cinematic medley with Vandoorea couldn't have been done.
I also want to thank everyone who is always telling me my channel is underated. But I encourage if you feel like that to share my content on other social media like reddit and twitter or where ever you want. (Share not reupload).
There is some little foreshadowing in this chapter. Tracks that will play later one have a little easter egg in here like "I am not a moron" "Bombs for throwing at you" and some others.
Everything will continue in chapter 2. And the tracks that weren't here that are part of the chapter will continue in future chapters like "Science is fun" and "Reconstructing science"

Okay, having finished it, I cannot actually pick a favorite. You Know Her is absolutely INCREDIBLE but part of that's how you built everything up beforehand. Sharing this with all my friends and I can't wait for chapter 2!

Wow, even more Portal 2! I will always remember that feeling of awe I had after the walls of your starting room get torn down and you see just how massive everything is. Few games capture that same feeling of scale. I think you did here; these arrangements sound so.. heavy and ominous. Good Job and I cant wait for the future tracks!

I think everyone who loves the OST liked it because of "The Courtesy Call". You think its the alarm part of the sound design but it got turned into the soundtrack, along with the scene it was a huge hype building opening to the story.

Wow, tremendous work! I'm torn between 'Courtesy Call' and 'You Know Her?' as my favorite tracks from this chapter. You really did them justice. I've always been fond of your orchestral arrangements, and this Hanz Zimmer style of composition complements both the Portal OST and your skills as a musician. keep it up, I can't wait for the next chapter! Until then, I expect I'll be playing this on loop for hours and hours

@@Danbero Though the beginning of 'Courtesy Call' is always wonderful, I think your treatment of the section at 4:28 was particularly well executed. The slowly building strings paired with the percussion and choir captures the sense of wonder and unknown the player feels at that stage of the game, in addition to the danger of being lugged around in a box by the Idiot Orb. The more synthesized parts at 4:54, 5:07, and 5:23 seem to mark the humorously shortsighted and impressively unreassuring moments when Wheatley chimes in, accentuating those feelings and enhancing the cinematic nature of the mix. As for 'You Know Her?', I'd say I was most impressed by the portion starting at 16:41 where the sound swells. The mix of elements being introduced is just phenomenal. The haunting female vocals going into the awakening, the oscillating piano leitmotif that keeps escalating in tempo, the intensifying organ, and the pounding beat starting at 16:56 just all combine to make a tone of overwhelming dread. It really captures the helplessness of the player watching GLaDOS come back from the dead. Post-awakening, I love the way the brass takes over, and how the deeper toned vocals fade in at the moment She starts to dangle you over the incinerator shaft, which of course is followed by the creative use of alternating percussion instruments in the 'Incinerator room' track. It all just flows together so smoothly and fits the cinematic perspective.

I'd have to say the last track was my fave. Had it playing over the sound system in my room and oh my gosh it was amazing. The buildup though, stuff on the shelves was rattling!

Oh, I wish I could capture it on camera. It was epic. I've got a 300W sub under my wooden bed frame, the whole thing is enclosed except for a single door on the front. It acts as a huge sub box that directs everything straight into the floor, shakes the whole room. It feels a lot more potent than it actually is.

Hi, I'm making basically a playlist to sync up with a really long video (as in, playing it in another tab as background music) and have your music included in it (along with a lot more video game music). But since that video is so long, I'm stitching the playlist together into a single video and I felt like that crossed a line where I should get some permission to use this music in it. It's not monetized or anything (and I have where I got the music listed), just a replacement for using a playlist. Since it *would* be on my channel, I just wanted to ask whether you'd be okay with that. (Also, I'm super exited to see any more portal music you arrange)

Thank you for the compliments! Do you mean that you take the whole video and add into a longer video with more music? Because in that case it could always be that youtube's copyright system would detect that it is from my channel, but that usually isn't a problem if you got your video on private or unlisted if you just want to listen to the music.
