+Fellow Human she may have escaped but as the portal universe is the same as half life, the world should be devastated by the war with the combine, so i dont know how much chell's life can improve in a world where human life is in constant threat. At the end of the first Portal game, glados says "When I look out there it makes me glad I am not you" surely because she saw how screwed the world was as Portal 1 happens after Half Life 1. Also, probably GlaDos let her go because she was sure Chell was going to be killed sooner or later, giving that killing her herself was getting too problematic, she basically handed her to the invaded world to dispose of her, not because she was sympathetic with her and had a change of heart, I may have believed that if glados didnt erase Caroline from her data.
