valve is bursting these few years with new stuff on the portal series. first is PORTAL 2 being the first ever completely steam deck verified game. community mods. Minecraft portal references. more updates to portal 2 so it can be played on steam deck. rtx with portal 2. reshade with portal 2. a gecko car insurance ad( wait... WAIT WAS GECKO THE CAR INSURANCE COMPANRY SECRETLY HINTING THAT THIS WOULD COME OUT?????) and then there is some more rtx and shaders and mods and now this and some evidence that fnaf security breach might be in the same universe as portal. OMG! :)

You can still mod games on the Deck, right? If you can, then I don't see why they'd have anything to worry about. The one selling point of PC gaming is the ability to mod, so that alone would carry the Deck

@@bluecherry8482 i don't think so. The game is extremely light weight as well. The Steam Deck can almost run it at a solid 4K 60fps. If the game is locked to 30fps on Switch I see absolutely no reason for it not reaching native resolution. :)

As someone who replayed portal 1 and 2 a month ago: the games are good but... overrated. At least for me. The reason why it can't possibly be the best game ever made is that it won't appeal to a huge amount of people. I liked the idea, but something about solving dozens of puzzles felt... repetitive at a certain point. I'm sure that in 2007 and 2011 when the games came out, they were amazing and massive hits, but nowadays when there is such a massive competition in video games, it struggles to hold its position. I think atm rdr2 is much closer to being the greatest game ever. My favorite game of all time is hollow knight, but I understand that it won't appeal to everyone because of the artwork, exploration, etc.

Valve want to change the way players control their characters. They have been pushing gyro and touch controls big time and there is a high chance they would implement this here. Unless they couldnt due technical restraints like poor hardware of the switch.

I suspect the gyro on the steam deck is ran universally through their operating system, because they cant tell every single developing studio to add gyro support to their game. Switch is a whole different system than the steam deck. Because it isnt their system, they have to add gyro support to portal itself. I dont know whether its complicated to implement, but i could see technical problems preventing this from happening.

It cannot be overstated just how much this means to me. I always thought Portal would be perfect game for Switch; the graphics won't be too demanding and the controls are perfect. I want to hear GlaDOS berates me on portable, I want to explore the old Aperture facility on the go, I want to play co-op on the go. I really want to explore Aperture Science and relieve the story of Chell over and over again on the go. I thought it was hopeless, I thought Valve gonna make Portal a Steam Deck exclusive. Oh gosh I was just having Portal 2 nostalgia today too. As much as I feel like controlling the Portal gun aim with sticks is going to be not as comfortable as with mouse controls (for me), I won’t miss WASD for movement. I’m 10000% buying this just because this series is that good.
