Wow ! what an amazing camp, high up in the tree canopy on my homemade portaledge.
Physically and mentally exhausting in getting everything set up but worth all the effort for a magical unforgetable experience.
If you want more information on the portaledge and how I built it, and information on my tree climbing methods and equipment then have a look at the links below:

There is a fine line between being a genius and absolutely bonkers...and you Pat, are a genius (all be it a bit bonkers 😄) Again you have smashed it out of the park with your creativity, humour and sheer determination and effort to entertain us. A massive thumbs up from me mate for taking us along for your magical camp. Best wishes from me and Jo.

Nice to hear from you both Paul, sometimes when I,am swinging 40 foot up on a rope, just to set a camera up for a 10 sec bit of footage, I wonder what I,am doing, then the adhrenlin sets in, and I realise why, excitement, fun, the challenge, so many different reasons that make it all worthwhile. Where to go next, perhaps another tree, all the best Paul...... thanks Pat 👍

Paul, great to learn that you are also a Patrick Dickinson fan! I subscribe to your channel as well as his and thoroughly enjoy both. I spent my childhood in Sheffield close to where Patrick lives (I think) and have spent the last 40 years living in the Peak District so both channels often show locations familiar to me. Great comment re. this vid. 👍

Watched this yesterday (with a glass or two of beer), and 'Liked', but didn't know quite what to say - in fact, I was a little speechless. But ,now, with the benefit of a night's sleep: Mr. Dickinson, you are an inspiration, sir. Well done, good job, and thank you for all the effort you put into filming and sharing your adventures. Truly and sincerely appreciated. Cheers!

Patrick. You are in the same league as Fred Dibnah. You represent something very special about our unique British Isles and the north of England. As a southerner (now living in the Highlands of Scotland), you have opened up my eyes to the history, architechture, and geography of your area. You've inspired interest, fascination, and adventure. This time, you've outdone yourself. This video is a testament to more than tree camping. It's a taste of a long lost feeling we all had when we were kids. Turning dreams into reality was much easier back then, and MUCH harder today! You've rekindled a passion and interest that we should all keep burning. You're a truly remarkable man who is an absolute national treasure. Bless you and yours.

Hiya , Pat ! Very interesting again , and even as a spectator, it was deeply satisfying to watch. After the effort you put in , you rightly deserve so much pleasure . Managed to catch up with your last few vlogs recently, been difficult on account of Her Ladyship becoming extremely ill again ,very critical , but things although far from out of the woods, are such that we can watch you , being very much IN the woods! There's as much pleasure in just watching you enjoy it so much. You've earned a beer , mate. Bet you know a good boozer where ya can get alock-in!! All the best, Nige and Helen.

Nice to hear from you Nige, and so sorry to hear about Helen, it must be so hard for the both of you, hope things get better soon. Loved this camp as it was different and a challenge, after the hard work of getting everything up there it is quite a realaxed camp. Luckly I knew of a certain little pub I could return too !......hope everything works out ok with Helen...... thanks Pat

This has got to be the craziest exploit and most impressive task unnecessarily conceived and undertaken by man…….! Your fitness level is impressive and leaves me speechless. Should, God forbid, a medical emergency ever be necessary. I wonder just how the paramedics tasked to attend would react? I imagine it would be pinnacle of their career and topic of conversation for the rest of their lives. The filming and recording of this vlog would challenge the very best of any professional film production team. And there you are not only doing it, but also filming it entirely alone and happy in your particular style of madness. Well done Patrick, you’ve surpassed all expectations. You’ve taken the expression ‘ Hanging out’ to another level……..! In more ways than one.

Thank you for the great comments, may appear a bit risky but all risked assessed and I did have a plan B, I only live a little way from the tree and family new where I was. You most definitely do get mosquitoes. The UK has over 30 species of mosquito of which many bite people. Here in Devon, I sleep in the hammock in the garden when the weather is hot and mozzies can be a problem. Occasionally they massacre me and I'm covered in bites the next day! Great video and I salute your wildcamping dedication Patrick. Brilliant stuff.

Pat! I cannot applaud you long, hard and loud enough. You really are amazing. You seem to do your best work when the work is the most challenging. I really recommend to all the viewers to watch all of the previous Portaledge videos so they can begin appreciate all that you have had to do to prepare for this. As a recovering alcoholic, I have to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your plug for sobriety, subtle as it was and probably needed to be. I will need to be without the Internet for the next few years and as I have said before, what I will miss the most, without it, is your channel and your truly inspirational videos, like this one. Patrick this is great work as usual. I'd just like to advise (as a tree surgeon) that any folks who wish to start tree climbing are aware of 'Suspension Trauma/Suspension Syncope'. If you remain static in the harness for prolonged periods (if your unfit and resting etc) or the harness is too tight, blood can pool in the legs and quickly lead to quiet serious problems. So just take time to shake out your legs or support part of your weight by standing on branches as you ascend.

Hi Andy and good advice, my climbing saddle is thick and well padded so seems to spread the load well, tend to be in the saddle when ascending, then usually climb with lanyards for most of the time, thanks for the importance advice....Pat
