Very impressive innovations in your jig modification skills. I would guess that your audience would be woodworkers who make bucketfuls of casework but would exclude hobbyists like me who make one-off pieces infrequently. The jig set-up and change-over time when making through dovetail work would be offset by handwork that incorporates shape variation(several different degrees of angle), joint personality differences since woodworkers have their own perceptions about what a joint should look like. Your video is such a good example of the plethora of approaches that typify the current woodworking community.

Yes, my focus is to show my techniques to anyone who is interested. I don't want to tell anyone what to do. I think my videos should show clearly what techniques I have worked out. Another woodworker can determine for themselves what works best for them. I think my videos would be helpful for people trying to move from amateaur to professional, but I am not sure about anything.

I have the same Porter Cable jig and have found that the instructions for setting the depth of cut for a through dovetail are not accurate. The 3/8" gap between the bottom of the template and the top of the depth stop as written in the manual appears to be correct for half-blind or miter dovetails but not for through dovetails. For through dovetails, I think that the depth of cut for the tails should be equal to the thickness of the pin board and the depth of cut for the pins should be equal to the thickness of the tail board. Is that how you set your depth of cut? Thanks

Yes, but I add an extra 1/64" so I can sand the endgrain into any micro gaps.

😂😂 He is just overcomplicating it. Jig works well if you take the time to measure things well and carefully tighten the fittings.

The router guide plate moves with repeated use if it is not held in place with blocks. The drawer parts get moved by the force of the router bit if they are not also held firmly in place with blocks. My results got much better after making these changes. I appreciate that your experience with the Porter Cable Dovetail Guide Jig is different from mine. 😐😐
