Thanks for posting this. The insight into the use of the product is very useful and details the steps nicely. Your product labelling notes coverage of Instant Rust at 10m2 per Litre. Your video mentions a light coat. I find the labelling by definition to be in contrast with your view on this video.

I met your team here in Korea (in conjunction with Dunn Edwards) recently. They didn't do a demo of this, unfortunately. I used the D.E. product on my door, and found the iron base to be extremely chunky. I wasn't aware that I needed to stir the piss out of it. As a result, there was a lot of opacity in my initial brush strokes at the top left. The finish wound up having some show through in those first spots. A rep at the store said it would be ok to do the whole process again (minus any primer). Wrong. It looked like wood. Interesting, but not the desired effect. So, it's on to the 3rd attempt. This time I got PORTER'S, and in the video it looks like it (Liquid Iron) brushed on quite smoothly. Is stirring the base paint a day-long event like it was with D.E.? Also, did I hear you correctly when you said that this vase has had 2 coats of the Instant Rust? Maybe it's the lighting, but it appears quite dark. The door in question is the interior of the front door of an apartment, which leads to the outside directly. Do I need to wash/wipe off the excess filings in the finish with a damp cloth and then put on a sealant? How will this change the look? Many thanks. Steven

I’ve put two coats of instant rust on my coffee table. I have two noticeable brush marks where I touched it up straight after I covered the whole area. Any tips on how to fix that or just put a 3 rd coat of the instant rust. Will the brush marks become less noticeable after a few days prior to applying the clear?

Karl, can you please do a video on the Fresco plaster? I want to do my walls like the panels at Sailor's Thai that BKH specified.

Is the base coat the difference in the colors on the final three pots? What is the one that is tracking a light patina finish? Thank you.

After finishing the full Rust process on an interior wall, and following all the directions, I found the wall was still quite dark (still too much black) and not the desired effect. Would I be able to apply a third stage 2 solution to lighten the wall to the desired effect (before the sealer) ?? Please advise

Marg Leary Hello Marg, thank you for your message. You could, however we would recommend putting a drop sheet down (and ensuring that all other surfaces around wall are covered) then fill an atomiser bottle with plain water and mist spray the area and allow to dry. Drop sheet is extremely important to take care of any runoff from the surface. This can be repeated again once the surface is dry if you would like to increase the appearance of the rust. Please don't hesitate to contact us at enquiries@porters.com.au to discuss your project further. Look forward to hearing from you

irruptionz thank you for your message! You would just need to wait till it's touch dry to apply the second coat of Instant Rust. Please don't hesitate to contact us at enquiries@porters.com.au aswell, we would love to chat about your project!

Don't you think waiting 12 hours for the first iron liquid to dry is long time some product out there dries heaps quicker

Seems difficult to get an even rust look. After 24 hours rust appears as part of brush strokes and not consistent.

I had the same effect, and there's way too much black iron still showing through, and not enough rust. In some cases, the rust is bursting orange/yellow, in other places just a hint, and in a lot of places, almost none at all. I have used this on 4 surfaces thus far, and one of them (a metallic lamp shade) looks very good; mostly uniformly rust, with some interesting variations that aren't so starkly different.
