This song sounds so dark and twisted... I love it! :)

I LOVE portishead. Weird, never heard this tune before. The guitar on the choruses almost remind me of Black Sabbath, as strange as that sounds. ...yet another facet of an astonishingly brilliant band of unbelievable artistic, musical depth.

This songs represents my inner self at this moment of my life. My loved one abandoned me because I lie... I omitted a truth... not intending to lie for ever. Just didn't know when was the right moment to say. And because of that, I lost him. .....I was always unsure of when to tell him. I can't find no one to blame, only me. I'm tired of my mind... I am, indeed, a damned one. God help my soul.

Yeah, everything was just so right that night. i never thought in a million years that i'd see Portishead live. it was the best $65 i've ever spent and the setting was cozy and intimate. i was like 15 ft from the stage. there were no barricades or anything.

I just watched the movie Threads. I think that this song is based on the movie. The air-raid siren like guitar is like the sirens warning of the approaching nukes in the film.

my little nephew entered my room so happy screaming my name to go out and play while I was listening this song, and at the door he just stopped, motionless and stoic for about 30 seconds too, just listening with eyes wide open, i don't know if feel bad or good about him haha

When the album was released it coincided with a relationship breakdown I had at the time. This song really describes the darker moments of life when you feel nothing but despair and anguish.

Magic Doors gave me some sort of existential panic attack when I first listened to it lying in bed. This album conveys everything it wants to in such a shocking way.

There was a movie years ago called ghost ship. There' a scene where a stray cable goes taut, and slices all the party goers on deck in half. I had a nightmare about that scene, and in my dream, the dead rose as ghosts. They were scared and afraid. But they were stuck in this party setting. Portishead were the ghost party band, looking sad, capturing the fear and uncertainty and damnation. It was this song. I kinda like that. I always thought that should be the video for this song.

I spent years looking for the song that plays during the flashback to that scene...it's by Gabriel Mann and it's called "My Little Box," an equally worthy piece.

I think the term "trip hop" refers to its use of beats and samples, like hip hop, as well as the scratching and manipulating of certain sounds so it sounds like they're "tripping" and repeating.

i remember, not being impressed with this album when it first came out, so i took it back to Virgin becase i needed the $20 for food anyway. flash forward 2 years and now i have money and i went to see Portishead live. damn, everything they did from 3rd was fucking amazing, especially this song. this one stood out in my mind the most. plus, i was completely baked.
