I took the new Portkeys LH5P on a recent camping trip in Nevada to see how it would perform in the cold and the snow. I'm quite surprised at the features of this monitor, take a look at the specs on the Portkeys website here amzn.to/2YvnZ23

Got new monitor recently and not having a case sucks. Especially with a plastic body. Thats a great selling point.

Yeah this is a solid product for sure...I’m still pretty happy with the feelworld monitor as well since it’s also aluminum but having the case is definitely a huge bonus for the price point of the portkeys!

hey, how do you power this thing with a v-mount battery or v-mount battery plate adapter? it's the only thing keeping me from buying the thing. A link to the power setup you're using would be great!

HI. how many range in feet does this monitor have with the blackmagic 6k for bluetooth? 5 feet?.....20 feet?

I really have no clue because I haven’t had a way to wirelessly transmit image to use it any farther than a few feet from the camera.

that makes sense.... thanks for replying.@@jordanvp I have a video transmitter, and a monitor, but I wasn't going to get this LH5P monitor if it didn't have a good remote control range. :)

Thank you! Yeah, it’s def a little more than I think I would normally want to pay, but after using the Bluetooth control I think I would have been ok to spend that much. Hope you like it!

I just got mine and it burned up as soon as i plugged it into my D Tap Battery via the 5 pin cable it came with. Very frustrating. Not impressed so far. LOL

Thank you form the great review, what would be the best way to power the monitor? I heard about HDMI outs being fried on the pocket cams
@jordanvp
@jordanvp 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend the power plate I use which is in the links in the description. That has worked perfect for me and have had no issues with any of my ports since they’re always connected and I’m not constantly pulling cables out. If you don’t prefer that setup, I would get a Sony FP mount battery for the monitor.

@@jordanvp Thanks a lot, so then you power the Camera and the Monitor from the V-mount? d-tap?
@jordanvp
@jordanvp 2 жыл бұрын
No problem! Yes, camera from d-tap on the battery and monitor from the power plate with the portkeys cable which unfortunately is sold separately from the monitor, but it all works great!

How do you manage power solution? I know you can power it via d-tap to v-mount plate /battery but I'm worried about frying any ports that I heard has been an issue for bmpcc users. Thanks!

Hi Jordan, Great information, thanks. Question: How do I power the LH5P with my V mount battery ?
@jordanvp
@jordanvp 3 жыл бұрын
Excellent question actually…portkeys sells a d-tap adapter which is how I power mine. I think they also sell a dc cable to go from a power plate into their power connector.

@@jordanvp One more question can you zoom in on the LH5P to get critical focus? thanks
@jordanvp
@jordanvp 3 жыл бұрын
Yep you can…it’s like zoom on most smartphones, use two fingers to zoom in and out. My only dislike is that the screen is only 1080 so it gets slightly pixelated when you do zoom, but you can still accurately check your focus with it.

I think it has SDI out? So you can take HDMI from your BMPCC and loop it through this monitor to a bigger SDI screen via longer, more reliable SDI cables..
