I used to live in Portland, and it normally doesn't get that hot, but it does happen from time to time. A great place to cool off is Cannon Beach, about an hour west of town, or Mt Hood, were you can snow ski in the summer. If you ever get up there again, check out the aerial tram at the south waterfront, and Pittock Mansion, both of which have incredible views of the city.

Generally great video, love the music choice! Couple notes: 1) Portland's consensus "best" pizza restaurant is A Pizza Scholls (New York style artisan pies). Located around 47th and Hawthorne in SE Portland (great area), it's been repeatedly nationally recognized and is held in high regard by foody pizza snobs EVERYWHERE. 2) "The bus reeks of urine" is not a headline of noteworthiness, in any city... ever. 😜

Welcome to Portland (nearly a year late). Glad you enjoyed your time here. Your food selection was spot on. All looked good. Especially Khao Moo Dang (I need to try that). It's not always THAT hot up here. Come back. It's beautiful and GREEEEEEN!!! I've spent the past 16 years in Temecula, CA where it was HOT, dry and brown before moving up here in 2020. Love it.

Oof you visited the same week my sister came to visit Oregon...right in the middle of one of the worst heat waves possible! Normally it is mid to high 80s with a cool 60 or so in the morning in August. I would definitely avoid public transit in practically any big city sadly. When I lived in Nashville, bus riding was...off the table. They've started to fight back to clean up the city which was left to its own devices during covid and recently repealed the decriminalization of drugs. I'd never listen to anyone that talks like Portland is 3rd world (like some living there do or ones outside Portland that just listen to Fox Tabloid). Compared to similar sized cities like Nashville, the violent crime is much lower. Homeless issues are a problem in every major city. Hopefully you can re-visit and see many of the beautiful nature areas in Oregon! Nature will always be the #1 reason to visit Oregon. It is so beautiful here!

@zgears not sure if others would go that far but I did keep hearing the phrase “Portland isn’t like what it used to be” a lot during my trip. I’m eager to explore the rest of Oregon though. Beautiful nature destinations!
@KrimsonKracker Жыл бұрын
Other than a visible homeless population in selective parts of Portland (fun fact: EVERY major west coast city has this issue due to out-of-control housing costs), what issues do you actually have with it? Crime rate has always been lower than the national average for a city of Portland's size, EVEN with the inherent covid-era spike (recently decreasing again). Portland's still a largely safe city with casual issues that most, if not all, cities with 2.5 million+ people experience.
@Azazel202411 ай бұрын
The rest of Oregon is significantly different the further away from Portland you get . Certainly some problems have spread but Oregon has incredible natural beauty. I hope you explore it

Portland is still a gorgeous city, people make it seem like it's Haiti we were speaking off what it's still cooler than most of the cities I visit yewarly. There are tons of things to do if you enjoy nature. In one day You can go to the desert, go eat lunch by one of the 1000s of waterfalls at an old growth forest and catch the sunset by the Pacific Ocean. Portland isnt just downtown Portland where the tourists go. Locals barely go downtown anyways, the neighborhoods and streets filled with shops, breweries, and foodie stuff are still here. As long as the dumb overly liberal government keeps picking up the slack we will get back to the city others would look up to.
@gregdrivesdriver5104 Жыл бұрын
Well as bad as Portland has become in the last 20 years, at least there is still some great food. Most of the videos now just show the dangers of public transportation, the parks that are now filled with the homeless, graffiti, tents everywhere, drug addicts, people shooting up, gun violence, people stealing from retail stores, police activity, prostitution, people living in RVs and the abandoned downtown and surrounded empty businesses. Your talents are amazing at shooting around the scourge.
@SarahtheEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
I definitely saw a lot of unhoused folks. Though, I am pretty sure LA has the largest population of unhoused individuals. It’s sad. Both cities need to do a better job.
@BooksAndTempeh5 ай бұрын
I live here and that’s hardly every street or neighborhood. What a ridiculous comment. It doesn’t take “talent” to shoot around it.
@StarkyLife11 ай бұрын
Portland sucks now. 45yo and been living around Portland the entire time. Is gone to crap over the last 8-10yrs. Violent, dirty, expensive, and those are probably the better parts. In my opinion Portland is a dying city. The young people who live there will say it’s great. But they don’t know any better. The older folks that say it’s great, don’t want to accept that it’s probably their fault. Anyway, that’s my thoughts and I live here. I also wanna thank the outsiders that moved here and jacked the home prices up. I made good money but dream of owning a home is dead here for 80% of people.
@JarrettVolinic6 ай бұрын
So basically, anyone that disagrees with your opinion is wrong? I'm a homeowner in the inner east side of Portland and ride my bike all throughout town and think it's a terrific place to live. The city did go through a rough patch during COVID, like many US cities, but Portland has been back to its normal self for a while now and continues to improve the quality of life for its residents and visitors.
