Boooo the script at the end, feeding corporate ease and minimizing our impact by saying we are fractions of the majority of stores.

Join me and boycott Starbucks. No really. Forever. Support your mom and pops shops…Forever. Correct me if I’m wrong. Once they include current wages, available tuition, health insurance their wage and benefits equal a bit more than $30 an hour… I can’t afford a $10 latte anymore.

Sure we’d love to take advantage of the benefits given if we weren’t so understaffed that we’re working 9 days straight and have no time to access the benefits without being worked to the bone and well past exhaustion. If we weren’t trained to be stand in social workers and security guards for the public. If we weren’t treated like replaceable toilet paper with unfair and unequal punishment. They want high turnover because it means they can start someone new at minimum wage. They paint a picture of career growth and advancement but don’t facilitate any space for the things they provide. You are wrong. Im trying to be concise and not abrasive but these are the harsh realities of metro area Starbucks’. We who choose to work here LOVE our jobs and our customers and we go above and beyond everyday to remember names and faces and stories. It’s the bare minimum that we ask for customers to respect us in return. We are providing a service that you pay for. You are not paying for the coffee you are paying for US to make you a coffee. Absolutely boycott, we whole heartedly appreciate that. What we don’t appreciate is the lack of understanding the full picture, whether it be willful ignorance or just not educated. I appreciate you asking and I hope this finds you well. Happy holidays♥️

Why so eager to work at Starbucks? There are lots of great coffee shops in Portland serving really good coffee. Many are locally owned, employees can actually have a conversation with the owner. Seems like a much better option. Not a Starbucks hater but they’re really not interested in helping their employees any more than they are making decent coffee. It’s just a business.
