Sarah, I keep meaning to tell you this - I hate the non-functioning keeper, too. My hack to fix that sucker is easy: I have the bag strap adjusted to where I will wear it (and let's face it, that's not likely to change) and I ever so carefully secured it in place with a few well placed drops of super glue. Yep. I sure did. Works like a charm! Thanks for the PL Almost Perfect heads up - I've bought a ton of really nice pieces with character from them. ❤️

The toaster bag is very neat looking and I like the shape. I really love your supplemental bag too. I once carried one big tote with everything in it, but like you say, it is hard on shoulders, necks, etc. I use a crossbody of sensible size and a supplemental bag for notebooks, Bible study, pen pouches, etc. Another great video. I’m a recovering big bag addict as well. I have two Portland Labor bags: the mini crossbody in the pebbled black and a backpack in nutmeg and both are lovely. I’m loving yours!

That's a lovely little crossbody and the color, at least on camera, looks nice with your maverick leather. I use a leather backpack that's fairly light and holds everything I need for work, but I'm a crossbody person at heart. The backpack does a good job of distributing the weight, though, and even helps with shoulder tension to some extent. I got the Mega Weeks this year too and, yeah, REGRETS.

Backpacks are so great. I have one in the car I was using if I had to do a lot of standing. I would quickly throw my purse contents in there. Too much work so I just needed to downsize completely!

This is such perfect timing! I've been eyeing their crossbody bags!. I love the circle bag, but I highly doubt it will hold my standard tn that I take with me everywhere. Also, you could glue Velcro inside the external pocket, to make it more secure. And yes, the key pouch is ridiculous, as you said, but it's so cute and you're clearly delighted with it, so it's worth every penny. And it will make you smile every time you open your bag!

Oh my Lord that little key holder is adorable!! I need one of those! And yes, I can't stand having keys scratch my handbag and the contents!! My very first PLG bag was a Cognac medium tote, I love it and mine also has a lot of red undertones. Be careful with the transfer, I have conditioned mine with Bick 4 three times now and I'm still getting a lot of transfer on the rag after conditioning it. My daughter has a mini crossbody in the color Honey. It's the structure you're looking for yet there's no transfer at all. Her bag is developing a beautiful patina! If I do get another PLG bag it'll definitely be in Honey.

You can spray leather and textile with collonil carbon to prevent dye transfer. I would also spray the inside of the bag as it’s safe on unfinished leather and suede.

I recently received this bag in black. Despite the annoying interior pocket, I was really enjoying it until I realized it was rubbing off marks on my light colored pants where the bag was hitting my hip. I reached out to Portland Leather and they really kindly offerend me a refund or an exchange, which I think I'm going to take. Great customer service!

Very cool Sarah. Have you thought about putting a small plastic hair tie on your strap and then push your 2nd loop over it. It should stop it moving on you. I have a fossil bag that has seen better days but I can't part with it.

Interesting! I went to Portland's "almost perfect" page to see what else they have available but did not purchase anything. The discounts were impressive, though. Near the end you were showing us your journal pouch and you mentioned that you leave it in the car sometimes. I have to caution you about that. A few years ago I left my lunchbox in the ca while I joined friends for dinner. It was a nylon ripstop bag that did look a little like a purse. When I left the restaurant my window had been broken and the lunchbox was gone. I think it must have just happened because I heard a shout of dismay across the street where there was a gaggle of teenagers. Not much of a loss for me in the case of the lunchbox - they got a stainless steel fork and a container of yogurt -- but the broken window was a pain and I'd hate for you to lose your journals in a similar way. Be sure you hide your journal pouch if you leave it in the car!

I think the MESA from Portland leather would work better for you ? its only 2 inches bigger. The softer leathers like Sedona dont have the "rub" off and are still structured. check out the brand RUSTICO they make are gorgeous accessory pouch set. very soft.

Oh no! Never realized how crippling it could be. I’m so worried the food I make tastes bad. My husband walked into the room where I was using leather glue and said the fumes were so strong and I had no idea! Praying for your speedy recovery ♥️

@@sarahmartinezjournals same to you!! ❤️ my smell/taste did come back although not as strong and then 6 months after covid it got weird again and now things are just off. Especially onions, garlic, and iceberg lettuce. I'm a hairstylist and during the natural shedding phase of the hair cycle many many women including myself experienced a ton of hair loss. 😅 I probably shed atleast half my hair in a two month period it's was nerve wracking even though I was expecting it could happen! Thankfully it did stop. I dont tell you this to make you fearful just know it does happen and lots of water, healthy food and biotin helps! May we both taste good food and smell supple leather once again!
