For someone who "doesn't know the area at all" they drove straight into the poorest part of Portland right off. After that as for the "not knowing the area" drive up to Congress St, which most of us who are local know is a magnet for the homeless since they were just 2 blocks from a SHELTER and he drove right in front of the soup kitchen on Oxford Street! Then onto State Street and headed towards the Old Port. Now the Old Port is pretty nice as he's on York Street passing by very expensive condos and doesn't say a WORD about that. So much wrong so wrong with this video. A horrible one in a beautiful area. I am a local and find this very biased! Extremely so. Yes, Portland attracts more than our fair share of homeless in the city, it's the largest city in Maine, and yes there are drug addicts. He's so "worried I'll be assaulted" and yet no one even got near the car and "OOHHHH I AM SO SCARED!" PLEASE!! I travel State Street often as well as York Street and never ever I have seen anyone being assaulted. No need to watch further this is not a true reflection of where I live at all.

Weird. Driving around & around in a walking city (crosswalks exist for a reason btw) and in the burbs. Doesn’t differentiate between Cranston, RI & Maine. No evidence of prior research or even mention of any associated special interests-probably no clue about history of working waterfront either. Zero interest in local culture, music scene, has no experience living here b4 (during any previous decade) but somehow knows it’s gone to crap over time. 😵💫also didn’t go to any nearby beaches, no trips to countless islands, no boat ride, nearby woods etc.. even really basic travelers would know to get crab sandwich, lobster roll, steamers whatever. Thinks food is same in Portland as in CA, though they’re on two different oceans. SMH. Foodie town even if seafood isn’t your thing. There’s lots of reasons that city is flooded with visitors year round, but he’s probably totally clueless about that too. Excellent guide to go somewhere without having a single travel experience. Heaven forbid he set foot in Longfellow’s, but would probably complain about having too many books. Might as well have just visited Walmarts & eaten at McDonalds.

PORTLAND is that other Maine Ritch people live there. They like to operate California people. An spend money we don't have. You know the old saying the 400 club. Nice place to visit but don't want to live there. I've lived in Central Maine all my life. I could never afford to live there,

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGSAfter living near Seattle for 10 years after growing up in this area, to be honest, the things you are complaining about here are even worse in Seattle. We even had the light rail train drivers in that go along I5 complain about fentanyl vapors ending up in the trains' ventilation systems. I'm afraid Portland has been heading toward the same route recently. My biggest gripe with Maine was the resistance of the population to any type of change, even if it's beneficial in the long run, and the scapegoat is always people from Massachusetts for sone reason. NH is the same way but has been a bit more prosperous. However, there's no way in hell I'd move to Florida with the current political climate. I almost shot myself in the head as a closeted 17 year old, and your governor and school board members make me think about that time in my life I'd rather forget.

The homeless population is out of control. City "Leaders" have no idea how to handle it. Its not safe anymore and so sad. They care more about asylum seekers who have taken over the expo, surrounding area and schools, hospitals. Some in need and most taking advantage of free food, shelter, phone, health care. The police have fireworks being shot at them and they cant do a thing because of woke, juvenile, city leaders taking control. The homeless are taking over parks business area's and just like San Fran business are hurting. The life of Portland is being slowly sucked out of it and there is no coming back from it. Could have been the best city in the North East but not anymore. Its time to wake up and take pride and care of our city and state. Focus on real issues and not social political bs. I thought Maine was better than that but its time to wake up, put this "woke", social political made up non issues that were never a problem in much of anywhere to and end and get tough again before its too late.

People in Portland mostly fish and walk the beach not the streets.
@quackapatth Жыл бұрын
no we do not mostly fish, that has been retired for the most part for some time now, its not even top 10 anymore for jobs, or how the city makes money

we walk the streets, the only beach in the city is small and overcrouded in the warm months

How embarrassing is it that the largest city in Maine looks like this? Absolutely pathetic, and I blame democrat leadership 100%. That’s when all of this bullsh*t started to flourish.

😂You want to tour a real crap hole? Drive throughout Oakland, CA. I lived in Pompano Beach and Hollywood for 4 years: hot and humid every, single day; rains nearly every evening; three clear beautiful days in January; huge bugs, especially cockroaches; canal rats the size of cats; tropical storms that are terrifying; hurricanes. Everybody seems to hang out on the street and smoke dope. Loud, all-night parties. Bicycling doesn’t count in Florida because it’s FLAT. In Canada they eat more real food; in this country people eat sh*t that belongs in a dumpster. We eat PRODUCT; Canadians eat more FOOD. Even food made by US firms are more nutritious than what they sell to us. What’s embarrassing is all the graffiti everywhere. You don’t see that in places like Japan.

I have to be careful, my son and his family live in Portland. I can’t stand it there. The suburbs are just ok but the city itself is horrible. The streets in the city and the suburbs are awful, pot holes everywhere. The downtown has old run down buildings and dirty. NH has Manchester, which is about the same size, it’s so much better there. I’m from NH and I dread going to Portland to visit. Their liberal policies in southern Maine have made the place horrible and very expensive to live there. I took my family out to a local dinner for breakfast, nothing special and we ordered cheaper stuff on the menu, for six of us It cost almost $100, without the tip.wherever liberals control the government they make everything worse.
