I lived in Portland (actually Vancouver, USA) back in the '80s, and I loved to wander around downtown. The one way street and small blocks made for a lot of nooks and crannies to explore. Everytime I went down there I'd see something new, and I met a lot very interesting people.

Downtown has gotten much better, graffiti is still an issue the city has finally craved money to clean up, the tents have been mostly cleaned up except around old town, and some areas on the east side is still challenging. I think the major issue right now is bringing people and business back downtown and to those famous neighborhoods like missippi, alberta, hawthorn, 23rd, etc.

Sorry you are disappointed. I had heard how bad it had gotten and I was honestly surprised it was not as bad as I was expecting. There was no agenda, I was honestly just walking from our hotel to PSU then back to Powells, and that is what we saw. He did cross some homeless and a tent on the street at the end on Broadway and Burnside. I’m sure there are worse areas and of course areas by the freeway were rough but we were not walking there. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and comment.

I'm not from there, but I've seen in the news that Portland passed a law about a month ago outlawing sidewalk tent camping if there is shelter space available. The videos I've seen since from other youtubers seem like this has gone a long way already in a short time. Seeing as this video is only 2 weeks old, it's gotta be a pretty accurate representation.
