This was really fun. I am from LA, moved to Eugene in the late 80s, and have been in Portland now for the past 23 years. I got married at Skinner's Butte Park. Not at the top, but the park is also gorgeous. I used to live 5 minutes from Pip's! I also painted one of the murals in Springfield in 1993. It's the one behind the library.

Shasta is one of the places I prayed the Lord to give water and He did. Wish you were doing new videos. But I also am thankful for this one. David in Washington State. I prayed for Lake Mead and got it too..answered because He evidently thought it valid to ask that. Initially, the whole place got VERY rained on in Las Vegas, smooshing casinos in water...but I guess that is not anything new. God bless! (America too)

I have really enjoyed so many of your videos, especially the ones with Pops, but this one was particularly special. I missed that you had twins, so a big congratulations! And congratulations on getting your doctorate! That is very impressive. I wanted to thank you for featuring this stretch of I-5. We will be driving from Sacramento into Oregon soon, so this gave me some ideas for stops. I am especially excited about the cheese recommendation. It was also fun to see places I have been, such as Ashland and Mt. Shasta, but in the winter. I didn’t know Ashland was so beautifully decorated for Christmas. I have driven from Sacramento to LA dozens of times, so it was also nice to know I haven’t been missing too much on that drive. I do have one comment about Bravo Farms. While it is a great stop when it isn’t crowded, it is a total madhouse during any holiday weekend. If you stop at such times, it is hard even getting in and out of the parking lots around there because of the terrible traffic flow. Unfortunately, when they built Bravo Farms, they did not plan for the traffic congestion it would cause. Consequently, I will no longer stop there during a holiday weekend. I have stopped at Harris Ranch many times, even on holiday weekends. It is an easier stop. Again, congratulations and thanks for this and all of your vlog!

Never take this time with Dad for granted. Like I see sons having fun with their dad, being treated as a friend just having fun, and it seems like a fake TV show. I am sure a lot of people feel the same way. Seems like everyone I know, myself included, have fathers who have zero love of life, and everything is either an "I'm your dad, not your buddy" kinda feel or feels more like a chore than a pleasure. I don't know many people who just want to hang out with their dad and especially do things with them like they would a friend. That is special (unfortunately) and you have something there so spend all that time you can!

As someone who's made the trip up and down I-5 many times I thought I'd point out a couple places you should look for next time that weren't in this video. There's some great suggestions in here though, thanks Josh and congratulations on graduating!

Another awesome Roadtrip video with Pops Josh… and very representative of I-5 along this way. You stopped at several of our favorite spots and introduced us to a couple new ones. Glad you made it to Archive Coffee this time. Eugene is one of our favorite stops. Cornbread Cafe for vegan southern comfort food was also on Drive-ins, Diners and Dives and Tacovore for tacos of course. Thanks for pointing out the Simpsons-Springfield connection. I did not know that. Will definitely have to check Rogue Creamery is a threefer for us as the winery-David Leger and the chocolate shop are equally wonderful. Will have to check out the walk-behind waterfall next time we are by. Lived in Sacramento for 40 years so all familiar. Walked by the Capitol for many years on the way to work. You should consider taking the Underground Sacramento history tour similar to its more famous cousin Underground Seattle tour. As a vegetarian not a fan of Harris Ranch with its humongous stockyard adjacent to the restaurant- too close a connection from hoof to mouth. Thanks for bringing us along.

Seeing Grants Pass reminded me the President Grant ($50 dollar bill guy) was stationed in Eureka, Ca at fort Humboldt before he was sent east to command in the civil war. Always great to follow you on a road trip, especially appreciated when Pops comes along! I’ve been up and down I-5 a couple dozen times, from Central California to Seattle. I stop somewhere different for sightseeing or hiking every time. Thanks for the tips! Several places you showcased I didn’t know about, and will check them out during future trips. Here’s what you might have missed: 🔹 Salem: Silver Falls State Park and Oregon Gardens. Great walks/hikes! 🔹Lebanon: adjacent to the BW motel is a great Japanese style garden with creeks, a waterfall and lake. Best in October ❤Ashland: Lithia Park. My most fave spot along I-5! Go in spring, or better yet, in fall. 🔹Dunsmuir: you get the best shot of the Castle Crags from Railroad Park. Have dinner in the railroad car. Get the apple pie! Reservations strongly recommended. 🔹City of Mt Shasta: in the small nature park Sisson Meadow you’ll find a short hiking trail with great views of Mt Shasta. 🔷Stockton has a beautiful rose garden. April/May. 🔹Atwater, California check out the Castle Air Museum. (SR 71 Blackbird, Boeing Stratofortress, and much more). A favorite with kids. Also, if you like air museums, absolutely noteworthy is the home of the humongous Howard Hughes „Spruce Goose“. McMinnville is West of Salem on I-5, a detour of about 25 miles, but well worth it. Thanks again for all the great tips, both of you!
