After exiting from TriMet Flxible 1832, i noticed a tree branch prevented the door from closing so the operator had to shut the bus down and restart it which made a great clip

If you listen closely, this Flxible Metro came from the factory equipped with a Voith transmission.

No one moved at all. Most including myself didn't know why the doors were stuck open until I started recording.

Will TriMet's future bus orders be high-floor buses as well?
@LEGOSNCFTrainBuilder9 жыл бұрын
No. High-floor buses are no longer produced. They are a thing of the past.

EuropeanLEGOTrainBuilder [ELTB] I wish they still made high floor busses! :(
@LEGOSNCFTrainBuilder9 жыл бұрын
Aidan A. Well, we still have the 2100's, which are Gillig Phantom's.
@pdxproductions16139 жыл бұрын
EuropeanLEGOTrainBuilder [ELTB] Yes that is true! But the replacement of those have slowly started (4 out of the fleet).

Aidan A. TriMet should start scrapping the 2000 New Flyer C40LF's while they're at it...

Not really, TriMet recently amended its 2013 order of buses from 54 to 68 units.

I notice that the Flx's spew out quite a bit of smoke. Perhaps the tree branch was trying to do its part to keeping the air clean by sticking one of its branches in the door to keep it from moving, thus preventing the bus from polluting the air. :P

Not after TriMet finishes up with its current order (the 3100s) at the end of September. The older buses you mention will be pushed out in 2014, 2015 and 2016...

Haha wow lights out like that i love it!

This and all of the '94 Flxible Metros are gone as of September 2013.
@JohnSulu1410 жыл бұрын
are the 1992's still in service today?
@ClassicTVMan1981X10 жыл бұрын
robbieraeful If you mean the remainder of units 1701-1808, yes. But not for much longer, and especially the older (1990-91) Gillig Phantoms (the remainder of units 1401-1463, 1601-1630 and 1631-1643) are hungering to be replaced.
ClassicTVMan1981X Holy cow, I got to go to Portland pretty soon in order to ride on one of those
@ClassicTVMan1981X10 жыл бұрын
If you wish to catch a ride on any 1700 or 1900 series, you can. But hurry!
@JohnSulu1410 жыл бұрын
One reason I really want to go to Portland soon is because I want to rise in a 1992 Flxible before they're gone
@deloreanman1410 жыл бұрын
Better hurry. They're down to twenty 40' Flxibles (1700s) and only four 30 footers (1900s). The brand-new Gillig low-floors are being cranked out of the Hayward, California plant at the rate of about one per day and twelve have already arrived. I have worked right across from Merlo Yard since last August and their decreasing numbers has become quite noticeable in that time. The Flxible Metro will be extinct in Portland by the end of the year.

coaster3002(lolfunnycp) I would also say "NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!" To TriMet's 1990 Gillig Phantoms because I like those Gillig more than the 1997 Gillig Phantoms because the 1990-91 Gillig Phantoms are older than I am and those are the type of buses I like better than the 1997-99 buses.

If you're looking for a 40 foot Flxible Metro, you're too late. The 30 foot Flxible Metro buses are still around.
@pdxproductions16139 жыл бұрын
EuropeanLEGOTrainBuilder [ELTB] Sorry to tell you, but all 1700, 1800, and 1900 (all Flxible 30 and 40 feet busses) have been replaced.
@LEGOSNCFTrainBuilder9 жыл бұрын
Aidan A. Yes, they are now. They weren't when I made that comment, 48 weeks ago.
@LEGOSNCFTrainBuilder9 жыл бұрын
+roadwolf2 It doesn't work that way. When something jamms the doors on any bus (regardless of manufacturer) on the TriMet fleet, the bus must shut down to reset the door's closing module.

Tree says, "F***! Oh well, you win this round Trimet, but mark my words, one of these days, one of your bus drivers are going to make that same mistake of stopping near me, and when they do, I'll be sure to make sure that bus goes nowhere!!!"
