I was re-listening to the video about the Portofino. At this point it sounds like you have done your homework upside down and backwards. The most significant indicator for performance is weight. I can't see you keeping under that 2500 kg of payload. That has to include all your personal effects, food spares, leisure equipment like scuba gear, paddleboards etc, sails, dinghy, outboard etc. A more realistic number is 3000-4000 kg. Which makes a huge difference. It's also important to understand that no boat ever sailed to the VPP polars. Multihulls in particular tend to be quite optimistic. Very few multihulls are delivered any where near their design displacement. Real world polars tend to be 15-25% slower.

For the money in this category what you want is a no brainer! The big thing is getting going in light winds! Many boats are dead in the water with ten knots!! Ten knots with a performance cat will give eight knots easy!! That is blazing speed for a mono! If you look at documented crossing speeds in the trades most boats go for 8 to 20 knots or 220 to 240 miles a day! With a high performance boat you can go faster but it will exhaust the crew! The learning curve is slowing down!

That these numbers are so outstanding when compared to other similar cats is optimistic at best and physics defying at worst. I don't believe them for a second. What is curious to me is that from my own 30,000 miles of delivering cats and around 170,000 miles of monohulls is why cats don't break 200 miles a day frequently.....

If we were you, yes we would buy it, it ticks all our boxes too. So now we are following every step you do. We would prefer a sport top with full and hard window protection and enclosure.

Additional weight is most definitely not safer in a multihull. Reserve buoyancy is compromised. More weight means that you are closer to driving that lee bow underwater and capsizing shortly after. Less weight is less drag, so less sail area for the same speed, so less load on rig and steering. You need to research this and understand it as its fundamental to sailing multihulls.

Congratulations on finding your perfect match, this design is a real winner! If the hull is slippery and free from biofouling you will get even better performance. Usually, two or three coats of antifouling are required. It weighs about 14 kg or 31 lbs/coat on a 50 foot boat. Then, what does biofouling do to affect performance? Unfortunately, the top performing antifouling paints are ablative and toxic to the marine environment and still have marine growth. It must be renewed every two to three years. When it comes time to repaint, do you remove all of the old layers and start fresh? Subsequently, how often do you still have to clean the hull? The way to avoid this mess is to use a coating that doesn’t biofoul or wear off. but keeps working unless it is damaged by abrasion. It is inert and does not leach into the marine environment. Durable one-coat, super slick, nano-ceramic antifouling six hundred series from Tecmari saves on weight and ongoing maintenance through biofouling avoidance.

Congrats. It will probably be a very good boat for you. A few notes though. 105m2 large main sail on a 52 foot boat is insanely big and most likely you need to reef at an early point. As a comparison Outremer 52 has 96m2 and Outremer 55 105m2. Of course that will bring down the polars but that does not really matter. You are looking for 10 - 13 knots of speed not breaking the world records! Secondly the only polars I have seen on Outremers are the true, real life polars used for planning and plotting courses. They are naturally much lower than the theoretically calculated ones and obviously the game is there to keep the speed down when sea and wind builds not to maximize it!
