I use ‘select subject’ mask for my portraits on the iPad. Seems to work for me although I only shoot individuals.

Select Subject will work fine when you want to edit the entire person. However, my method allows you to select individual components of the person for localized editing.

@@brianmatiash Understood Brian. It does pick up individual things like eyes, brows, hair, lips etc but perhaps not as precisely as your method. One other question; do you still offer your complete guide to editing on the iPad with Lightroom? I saw you offer the everywhere one but couldn’t find the other one. Btw really great videos 👏🏻

Does this work from LRC to mobile. I created the masks in LRC and they haven’t shown up in LR on the iPad. Thanks for the great video.

You may need to know there is already a Adpative Preset in LrM in the Preset tab. In the Adaptive: Portrait there are selections for Enhance Portrait, Glamor Portrait, Polish Portrait, Gritty Portrait, Enhance Eyes, Whiten Teeth, Darken eyebrows, darken Beard, Testure Hair, Smooth Hair and Enhance Clothes

Thanks so much! I didn't know about those portrait adaptive presets. I've used them to create separate mask presets having removed the edits, just leaving the masks! Brilliant. Pity there's not one for lips!

Thanks for this tip (and Rob as well); I would imagine this functionality will be added to LR Mobile in the near future. Adobe probably has a roadmap of this and other enhancements for future releases (eg, Noise reduction, Map functionality).

I think this was a very nice video, my problem is that I don’t have a Mac or PC to use Lightroom. I can’t create my own presets 😅 . I think is a good idea if you have the time to create presets and sell them for a reasonable amount of money. I’ll be glad to buy them 😊.

Yup, this should work with Classic (but I don’t use it and haven’t tested it). And you can see how it works in Lr Mobile in this video.

I added all the presets as outlined in your video and they all work in LR Classic but they do not show up in presets on my ipad. I am wondering if the problem is putting those presets in a preset group. That group does not show up in LR on my ipad. Any thoughts?

If I remember correctly, those presets that you created in LRC will not sync to LR on your iPad. If you create the presets in LR Desktop, they will sync over.

So I imported those presets that I created in LRC over to LR desktop. All show up and work in LR Desktop but still do not show up in LR Mobile

@dennyriffert1803 hmmm, that’s a problem then. Assuming that you’re logged in with the same Adobe ID on your mobile devices, they should appear. If they’ve been imported in LR and are not visible in Mobile, then I recommend contacting Adobe support because there may be a sync issue. As you saw in the video, the presets I created appeared on my iPad within seconds. Let me know what you find out if you end up contacting them.

Is the preset downloadable somewhere or the dng file with the masks? And is it so that you can export the file with all the masks as a dng and if we import that into LR Mobile that the masks are also imported than? All you need to do is to create the preset yoruself of course. Or does this only work with syncing from LR desktop? (I only have LR Mobile, so I can't sync from desktop)

The preset pack I showed in this video is a bonus for students who are enrolled in my Lightroom Everywhere course. I may create a separate premium preset pack built for portraits, but it's not on the radar yet. In order to get these presets built with a mobile-only workflow, you'd need to download a DNG with each of the selection masks applied and then manually save each of the component masks as presets one at a time. My recommendation would be to install Lightroom on a desktop-assuming you have access to one-to import the presets in a few clicks. They will then sync to your mobile devices.

@@brianmatiash That's the problem, I don't have a PC to do this. I already found an xml preset, but you can't download that into LR Mobile. That's why I was looking for a dng with the masks :)

Hi Brian, I wanted to make a request/suggestion. Take it for what is worth from a person who loves the content of your videos and highly appreciate the education value from each of them. You don't need to fall into the trap of polemic titles in your videos. Somehow it has come very common these days to tell people how "wrong" they are. You already established your name and your channel and don't need to use that anymore. Let's try to create a more positive dialogue where people are taught how to do things better or differently instead of "the right one". In the end there are many ways to get the same results. I still appreciate your channel and the value you bring to the table. Cheers!

I appreciate the candid reply, Rodolfo. And for what it’s worth, I agree with you, and I know your heart is in the right place. The unfortunate reality is that catchy titles and thumbnails are often more important than the content itself, which is both disheartening and also understandable (from a vitality perspective). With that said, I wasn’t in love with the tone of the title, too, so I just changed it to be more in-line with my tone of voice. Again, I appreciate the sentiment.

Brian, viewers see the thumbnail first, and then the title. If they aren't catchy, viewers won't click on them, and KZbin won't promote the videos. It's not a trap; it's how KZbin operates. @@brianmatiash 😎🤙
