Portrait of a Modernist: Buddhadeb Basu, a documentary anchored and presented by Chinmoy Guha, a film on perhaps the most original and significant writer in the Post-Tagore era. The short documentary tries to chart out the innumerable shades of the novelist, playwright, essayist, translator and comparatist. The film is a production of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) under their Bhasa Mandakini Programme.

Our Bengali Joyce is Buddhadeb Basu. Though I am an avid reader, but, I am not shy to express that I failed to understand him from a very first reading. Yet his writing lingers on my mind for a whole century.
