Good patience. I could never do this . The planning alone is impressive. I realize how you drew each head to get these expressions. When this is done you will have grown so much . The future creations are there for you. The creativity you have is endless. Impressive

Chris, I really appreciate what you’re doing. You are giving invaluable lessons about painting with one of the most clear and learnable way I’ve seen in a painting Jedi. Your methods are really simple and helpfuI and I’m quite sure you’re making a lot of people’s life easier and more enjoyable with these lessons. I sincerely thank you for your effort and time that you put in to making these videos for the people you don’t actually know or have a connection with.

I agree with your stand on "flesh tones, and there being so much more color. I think that's with anything. It's about breaking away from what our minds assume and opening our eyes to what's actually going on in nature and our reference materials. Great information! Thank you for sharing!

You were definitely talking to me when addressing blending. Ha ha I have such a strong need to do that and it's a big downfall for me since I'm new at oils because I end up with a mess. I am going to try your method/tip of just adding a different value next to the previous one to get a good transition. Thanks!

Hey Coach-Doing my first portrait. Can you please let me know: What are your main tips for going from patchwork quilt to finished smoother looking portrait? You went over quite a bit of it here. Would you say using the “transition values“ is the most helpful? Any others? “Typically” how many layers are there of thin to thick to done? Thank you!...Paul

Hi Chris, I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I too love to paint portraits. I've been using Prismacolor Pencils and Acrylic. Now I would like to learn Oil Painting Portraits. My question for right now is, What do you use to draw the original portrait before the painting?

I'm curious your thoughts on copyright or if it worries you or not. There are paintings I want to do but I hesitate because they use a photo reference similar to these Nick Cage photos some of which are sourced from movies. Where is the line for a painter to create prints and profit from copyrighted material? This gives me a lot of anxiety when I'm creating work.
