I would argue you can't really erase when shading. The eraser will just smudge the graphite. You can totally grace when make the sketch and measuring the proportions and stuff. But when you start shading you done really have a way back now

I drew a lot as a teen. Then I went to artschool, The ABV in Tilburg, the Netherlands. After this I concentrated more on studying the old masters/ painting, and the old literature on art.
