In this video, we give our thoughts comparing Ports to Comps using our 2011s! As you know we already have a few port jobs done by Vinny, and he was nice enough to reach out and get us his new offering, the Grand Master GENGHIS KOMP on one of our 2011s. We decided to compare it against the Staccato XC. Let us know which you would prefer, Ports or Comps?

Great video, monsoon Gmgk on a staccato p is on the bucket list. A 2011 with the comp block like an XC is a very tough look to beat tho.

I have both and I can tell you the difference is between the xc is the fitment, trigger and finer details. The xc is a nicer gun but both are good I had my p rebuilt to match my xc

Vinny and the gang said they'll even port my Turkish made, SDS/Tisas imported MAC 9 DS. Porting/compensating whatever 2011 you have is definitely the way over an xc, maybe.

Great vids guys. Have you ever tested a GMGK Staccato P vs just a Genghis komp Staccato P for a closer like per like comparison? The XC seems to have that advantage from the extra weight at the end of the barrel.

Unfortunately not. We had a Prodigy 5" with the Genghis Komp and without a doubt we think the Staccato P with the GMGK benefits from the best of both worlds combining the Lucky 7s & the Genghis Komp. Like many other Prodigies ours did not last very long.

DSC comp barrel for 400 bucks!! Im running a P and a C2 with them. I also own and shoot the XC, and there is no comparison! you should have thrown in a v8 ported XL!! thats a game changer!!

Hello Zach, Brandon and Daminick, one question, would it make a difference between manufactures on how the comps are made and/or the ports are drilled also if you took three different pistols such as the H-TAC, XC, Prodigy comp and Erebus and you perform this test do you think the results would be similar or a drastic difference? Or vise versa with ported pistols? Good job guys..! 😎

It is extremely important how the ports/comps are made. Sloppy machining and lack of attention to quality can lead to severe accuracy or reliability problems. Some chop/shops out there advertise cheap prices but have bad QC because they let their tools run dull before changing which leads to people getting their ports screwed up. Go quality with a trusted shop and don't look to save money if you want your gun to come out right

@@johnlehman27 Understand that but would like to see in action the pistols I mentioned from well known reputable companies like those mentioned... I have factory comp/ported pistols and two stand out to me from my Atlas, Hayes and they are the ported MPA DS Hybrid and my BUL Armory TAC PRO 5"... My PT H-TAC is damn good from the factory as well!!! 😎

Hey, great question and thanks for watching the video! We think it would absolutely vary between different manufacturers. We can't say by how much as we've never tested them side by side. However from what we found between the XC and GMGK was similar performance with slight variances Manufacturers are trying to achieve the same thing but differently. From the dimensions/weight, spring tuning, refinement/finishes, and port/comp setup. Companies are going to emphasize a certain area that they think is the best approach. Example: Bul Armory has their new XC competitor with ports and comp at the end. The tuning of the gun is setup to optimize that porting and comp package. Same applies to the Prodigy Comp, H-TAC and Erebus. The reason they all don't have the same setup is because the way they're optimizing the performance is different. The same question would still apply from our conclusion. Is personal preference and worth the difference in performance?

@@9to5Tactical Nice reply bruh..! Like you mentioned difference in performance that's why I asked the question and would like to see a video comparing a few different pistols someone has to be better in performance if that applies after all one has to stand above the rest... 😎

Bul Armory now has EDC and Tac pro models that come with V8 porting. I have the 4.25 EDC Pro and it shoots great, minimal recoil and rapid return to zero. Btw, nice video!

I just got the Underworld arms cyclops comp for my staccato p. I havent made it to the range yet but im excited to see how it runs oppose to w/ out the comp. This will determine if I should still purchase the XC or if I can just proceed w/ getting one of the C models.

XC all the way, XC is the best comped 2011 out of all of them for the simple fact that the barrel/comp are made from one solid piece of metal. I would just change out the trigger to a solid metal one. Is the Staccato P GMGK running a stock recoil spring?

My “Comped” pistols are more accurate than my Ported pistol. Not by any great, “practical” difference, however it’s a “confidence in your equipment”/head thing. I do prefer the more abrupt, muzzle rise dampening of a Comped gun, which is purely subjective. I DO shoot my Comped guns better than the Ported Pistol. YMMV Add; velocity loss is inconsequential on a Range/Drills gun, but IS a factor on a 9mm carry or competition gun. Bullet performance/penetration matters on a carry gun, Power Factor (velocity) is important on a competition gun.

how about noise? heard it is louder.. but by how much?

We don't have a quality db reader to get an accurate measurement However, the ports are noticeably louder, but we didn't find it distracting or notable.
