Taking Leão out was absolutely ridiculous. Couldn't agree more about Cristiano, it was clear that they had one job, passing the ball to him, period and even after 6 fails, which should've been a sign early on that it was not his night he still went for the penalty without it even being a discussion. It was clear that he wanted to score a goal so that he could won another record of the only player scoring in 6 euros and it was either Martinez who pep talked them into making this happening by not scoring themselves and always pass to him or Cristiano is calling the shots. As a portuguese, it was sad to watch although not surprising. So sick of the fanatics out there who can't for the life of them, watch a game with their eyes instead of emotions and biases comments. There's a huge difference between football fans and CR7 fans! Diogo was great, but this game was still horrible from Portugal. This would all be fine in Dubai, but this is the national team and all the decisions have been made around him for the past 20 years. As portuguese I not only respect the guy but know how much he contributed, but, if the rest of the players don't have the freedom to play because everything revolves around one player, it's not good for anyone. He's there as a powerhouse name, but he doesn't have the same power anymore, which makes sense. The fact is, we have amazing players, but we still make everything about him and a national team isn't and will never be just about one player and that was clear today; I have too much respect for our other players to put just one in a pedestal, that will never make sense to me. @@mohammednaseebt7488Your opinion on Ronaldos play is weak stuff and shows a lack of football knowledge. He was literally the only player making runs and he was doing it the entire match. Not once did his teammates attempt to capitalise on those runs, being too afraid of failing to deliver a pass that required some skill. Instead they would constantly attempt to get as far down the wing as possible, even giving up chances to deliver the ball earlier, and then they'd deliver a majority of terrible passes. Something that's been common in this tournament. Did I think Ronaldo had a good game? No. He was okay, made a couple of passes. Put one free kick on target. Was making runs throughout the game. I was hoping Ronaldo would score to shut up all the people wanting him off. I completely disagreed with those people. He was the only one in the entire team making runs throughout the entire game. His crying needs to be looked at from what his psychology might be and it comes off as a large ego thinking that he is the most important person on the pitch. The main character. He was thinking about the rest of the team. I don't blame him, the entire football world, including slug fans, like you, worship these players for playing some football, willingly putting yourselves below them. The grown men with homemade signs asking for Ronaldo's shirt is a good example. It's not his fault, we would all get an inflated ego in this position but we're not talking about fault. We're talking about a teammate breaking down and crying DURING the match. The captain. The big name. A veteran of football. Imagine being on the team and you have to go back out and win the game and you have to worry about one of your players not being mentally ready because he missed a penalty. They needed him out there at his best. How about you flip your childish Messi comparison. If someone else did it would you put it down to passion for the game? I guess there's no point asking you that since your opinions are so lacking in any kind of insight or intelligence. You can barely type. Let's deal with your Messi comparison. Another thing, never mind the freekicks, 99% of them for every player for every nation they dont score that is the obvious at least the ones in direct kick position to the goal, so for that let him take it cos he still has power altgouh not the same precision or controled kick...and the other player if you see they dont mind...this is our problem to, if u see there is no hot blood on the other players mostly, they are all ritch so they dont have the desire that is why they simply dont run the entire game, Portugal is very slow, for the time they control they shoud rip apart more the game riscking a little losing the ball but creating more unbalanced an one to one ocasions , and the risk reward would be greater specialy in the first half to try to get a goal soon, but no they pass and pass and hold for nothing...and then runing out of time!!
