Hey Jonathan, appreciate these videos you make, I will be seeking your services once I make the decision to get the GV. I one question which is important to me, have you seen one of your clients get their Portuguese citizenship without living in the country full time? I understand the rules should allow for this but I am concerned that my application may get rejected since I don’t plan to move full time to Portugal. Another question that is also important is how long after the five year time should one expect the citizenship? Is less than two year a fair expectation or can it be more, so what is the real length of time until you get the citizenship from the start of the application. Thank you for these informational videos we do truly appreciate them.

Apologies for the late reply! Email will always be a much quicker way of getting a response from me. To address your questions: citizenship applications usually take anywhere from 6-24 months to process. I would therefore suggest planning for a 7-year timeline to citizenship (although, of course, this can vary). We are expecting our first citizenships to be granted in 2025. Note that there is now precedence for Golden Visa holders to be granted full citizenship without residing in the country full-time (provided the physical stay requirement for the GV is met during the 5 consecutive qualifying years). This is also made clear in the surrounding legislation. I hope that helps

Manifestation of interest is not technically a residence permit, so my understanding is that time spent with this should not count towards citizenship

Portugal is currently ranked 12th for healthcare and 16th for education (and 3rd for peacefulness and 6th for safety). But Portugal's Golden Visa is more about getting citizenship remotely and full access to Europe - so you can take your pick from a number of developed nations that do very well on these fronts.

It is not optimistic to maintain the golden visa status. It is a trick or scam. Unless you have visa-free access to the Schengen states, you won't be able to come to Portugal to attend the biometric appointment for, let's say, card renewal. Now, nobody can renew their resident cards on time due to the delay in the system. Hence, unless you enter Portugal before the card expires and stay without leaving, just to wait until an appointment is open for you, but then the very purpose of having a golden visa is lost, because the minimum requirement to maintaining golden visa status is only 14 days per two years. Or, you will have to apply for some sort of visa to come back to Portugal to attend the biometric appointment. And it is unclear what kind of visa that will be; Portugal has no answer to that. Plus, the embassy and consulate of Portugal are not available everywhere; some of them simply don't work and are unreachable. For many people, they cannot even attend the first biometric appointment because they are unable to obtain a Schengen visa. As a result, the investment sits in Portugal to benefit the relevant entities only.

@@musaabadi7648 online renewals are only possible if the residence card has less than 3 months’ remaining validity, but has not yet expired. Outside that date window, online renewal is not possible. Once expired, you’ll need an in-person appointment.

the renewal of golden Visa card that expired in 2024 is not opened at all. that said, the cards that are expired in the period from Jan to March cannot be renewed, neither online nor in person appointment. This is well known in the entire industry. It's shocking to see that you have no clue at all, while promoting golden visa here. @@jonathanralphcitizenship

The online renewal for golden Visa card is not available ever since Jan 2024, thus, the cards that are expired in the period from Jan 2024 to March 2024 cannot be renewal on time. in-person appointment is also not available for anyone to book it on the platform of AIMA. These are well known in the industry, It is quite shocking to see that you have no clue about this but promoting golden visa here. @@jonathanralphcitizenship
