The captain is really a very nice guy. I'd love to see them sending a domestic team to play in the currie cup, or even be added to the URC. Only constant games against top players will really give them experience to hold their own, and joining a competition like the URC will give them that. They have a very small pool of players and soccer is their main sport.

The pride the coach has for his team really comes across in this interview. On wards and upwards for Portugal. They are playing good rugby and perhaps World Rugby could invest more time and money into their systems and grow the game in Portugal.

As a Portuguese, this hasn't moved the needle for us since the World Cup at all. Atrocious defence, many of their tries were scandalous errors from our line and like the coach said, too easy on breakdowns. Our backs are very good, they pass the ball well and can put 21 points into any defence, but our forward pack simply cannot match any tier1 team at the moment. You can see that clearly against Georgia, let alone the World Champions. A lot of recruiting and coaching work for Simon Mannix.

A point of note... Rugby is progressively becoming a game for MARSHMALLOWS!!! Yesterday's Springboks red and yellow card with Portugal says it all. Players are not even competing for their up and unders now in fear of being red or yellow carded!!! What '(a)gender', narrative is contributing to this one asks?
