This program is very helpful, but it would have been better for students who are trying to learn Portuguese, if the conversations were spoken a little slower and if the there was more time given to read what is being said to remember how some words are pronounce.

When Brazilians speak slowly, they begin to pronounce the vowels and consonants "as they are written" i.e. it gets some unrealistic Spanish-like/Italian-like accent (Paloma herself does this in some videos). People should be ready for Portuguese vowel reduction, because phonologically it is like the Slavic languages in this sense.

Duolingo is great to start with then start listening to KZbin videos of basic beginner videos over and over. Then I would try talking with natives and asking questions to them. Spanish and Portuguese are similar and can be confusing to learn at the same time. Many advanced Portuguese speakers find English easier than Spanish because they are so different its less confusing.

Muito interessante, mas dificilmente falamos com toda essa formalidade no Brasil. Entendo que é necessario aprender uma comunicacao mais formal, ate porque ao ler textos talvez seja esta a forma, mas no portugues do dia-a- dia nao é exatamente assim que falamos. Ninguém diz ao cabeleireiro : virado para esquerda kkk . A gente diz : Assim! e mostra como é😂. Ninguem diz: eles pagam bastante kkkk. No geral dizemos eles pagam bem, ou pagam " uma baba" dependendo da regiao do país rsrrss
