I love how this is the opening scene and we're shown which members of this house will stick together as the series progresses when they went into hiding. Blanca hid with Angel, Candy hid with Lulu, the 2 flip flopping twinks hid together, and Elektra hid by herself. I love such little details ❤️

@@JuanRodriguez-jx6uv I'm in San Francisco they was an asian Pose and hispanic in San francisco in the 80's lot beauty contest lots of funs but many of my asians friends did work as prostitutes since they did not have papers but they left one by one slowly and over 10 years I lost them all AIDS took them and some did not care they where scared to get old and as gay not easy been I know now the only thing left are the jewell's LOL real queens wear real diamonds LOL the only chance I add was having a ton of guys but playing safe I did see all my partnairs as positive so I would always play safe but now I have only the memorys of a fun and sometime wery scary times I lost few lovers w AIDS it did hurt so mutch and a lost my last lover in 2011 in a tsunami in Japan in marsh he was japanaise visiting is parents and he never came back I wanted to die many times gay life is no fun anymore as you get old I smile now because I did have nice friends those days gay asians where a big part of San Francisco and those gay asians w out papers did not have an easy life but friends where friends at first asians did not have help when they became sick all help where for americans gee sad but real many asians gay w out papers w AIDS did die on street alone I did what i could for some but the AIDS help stated very slow and all where advoiding guys w AIDS it was terrible in early 80's for non documented gays very hard no sick days no workman comps nothing it was just die for those asians yeap that is the way it was Thomas

It was the same thing when Elektra looked at the other piece of art as well. They probably wanted moments that were relatable. When you go to a museum and see yourself in the artworks. The moment where Blanca mocks the statue is a signifier of how young, immature, and naive she was as well as when Angel is screaming while running its something realistic that someone of that time would do.

When you love a scene so much that you watch it over and over and see the inconsistency with the announcer while Elektra prepares to get her hands cuffed. I love this show!

Yep, i just noticed it. While Elektra strutted her way towards the arresting officers, Pray Tell was screaming "AH SHIT", but the continuity of the scene wasn't accurate. But overall, STILL ICONIC!

Soundtrack to season 1 is fantastic.. also opened up my eyes a bit b/c 9 yr old me living in queens in 87 had no idea about this subculture nor what they were going through
