I never realized how close Maggie was to saving Connor

Conner actually got lucky and rode the capsize fairly easily, as he just clung onto the piano, which was bolted to the floor..

@dan_382 ай бұрын
@@Sivrn-Val 2006 was that in between era where cgi was going to full HD or stay in 90s style exaggerations. Being the most expensive and complicated cgi shot, with thousands of little models working in sync, this is the best cgi had to offer at the time. Now, this is pretty standard whenitcomesto animation (if we're comparing it to, say, Marvel, or the like )

The visuals were good and the actors tried hard but the writing in this movie was very subpar. In the original it’s established that they weren’t ballasted and in the book it says the stabilizers were damaged. Here no reason is given as to why the ship went over so easily. And that bit at the end with the “reversed the suction” That’s not how that works
@bethanyhait68802 ай бұрын
Also, everything is coming loose and flying all over the place when the ship looks to be at about 40 degrees. That’s a pretty major list, yes, but everything significant would be bolted down, to prevent against exactly this. The people inside would have been clinging on to the walls, but they wouldn’t have been falling through the air at a 45 degrees list.

The original was a tsunami, the remake a rogue wave. Honestly if they had the remake have the ship near an unstable cliff coastline and a landslide caused a large tsunami like it did in Lituya Bay in the 50's, this would be very believable.
@angellight4952 ай бұрын
@@KazumaPrime the thing is though rogue waves are rather common. And while they do take out small ships larger ships encounter them without much trouble. With the advent of modern stabilizers there isn’t much danger for a large ship. That’s why in the original they specifically mentioned that the ship didn’t have enough ballast. And in the book it says the stabilizers were damaged.

Not off shore like this. The only way a tsunami that big could form would be when it reaches the coastline, and at that point the ship is the least of your problems.

So low it’s basically non existent. If there was an event that was able to spawn a wave like this in the middle of the ocean, humanity would be having much bigger issues at the time.
@DanielSelk2 ай бұрын
Very rare. But rogue waves do happen and in the behind the scenes of this film they show footage from military boats of waves not quite as big as this one depicted but HOLY MOLEY they can be big and toss things aside. O_O And these are in the middle of the ocean away from land.
@00Kuja002 ай бұрын
It's a rouge wave, not a tsunami. What I have come to understand (from documentaries) they work differently. A wave is a movement on the surface, while a tsunami is more "water displacement" and has a moition from very bottom to the top of the ocean, thus being small out at sea and bigger when reaching land. :)
