I absolutely loved this film... The effects were flawless for 2006. The detail with the ship, Bulbous bow, lifeboats etc is awesome. Such a shame she sank.

+Chen Sun I watched in the cinema with a friend and we both loved it, later I kept on telling another friend they needed to watch it - I got bored waiting for them to listen to me, so I made them watch it. They were blown away by how good it is, and they majorly freaked out during the scene in the ventilation shaft - they aren't even claustrophobic.

I feel it could have fleshed the characters out more, but I still loved it. I try not to compare the original with the remake, because I believe the remake was lucky to have such a large budget, among other things, while the original was great for its time. I feel both are better than the book, which was full of racist and sexist imagery and dialogue. The book's good, but there are those issues, all the same.

Agreed. I have tried, twice. But the first version looke teeny and Titanic-like, while the other one was a bit clunky. I just downloaded Dooku200's map and used it as the skeleton of the map so I cab add more rooms and detailing. And I have become so attached to both the map and the film.

this scene, in my opinion, is as good as "take her to sea, mr murdoch" in James Cameron's Titanic. It just perfectly shows how grand the ship is with great music. I've absolutely catched when I watched the movie when I was only 8 years old, then I began to be enthusiastic to the ocean liner.

To create something so in depth and specific would require this level of visual effects (though they probably could have used a big ass detailed miniature and rotoscope in elements like Cameron did for Titanic). Not a waste I think as they would still need a CG ship for the big wave scene. I did see the behind the scenes of this which is interesting
