►AP:
■ Patient Positioning:
Position the patient upright or supine. Adjust the height of the chassis so that the
shoulder and elbow joints are equidistant from the ends of the RI.
■ Position of the Party:
Rotate the body to the affected side in order to bring the shoulder and the proximal region of the humerus into contact
with the chassis.
• Align the humerus with the longitudinal axis of the RI, unless positioning is required
diagonal to include the shoulder and elbow joints.
• Extend the hand and forearm as far as the patient can tolerate.
• Slightly abduct the arm and gently supinate the hand, so that the epicondyles of the elbow
are parallel and equidistant from the RI.
■ RC:
• CR perpendicular to the RI, directed to the midpoint of the humerus.
■ Recommended Collimation:
Collimate both sides to the margins of the soft parts of the humerus and shoulder. (The lower margin of the
collimation field should include the elbow joint and approximately 2.5 cm of the region
proximal forearm .)
■ DFOFI: 1m
■ RI: 18x24 or 24x30

►PROFILE (Internal Rotation)
■ Patient and Party Positioning
• Position the patient upright or supine for lateromedial or mediolateral views.
• Lateromedial: Position the patient erect, with the back to the RI and the elbow partially
flexed, the body rotated to the affected side so that the humerus and shoulder are in contact
with the chassis. Internally rotate the arm so that it is in lateral incidence; epicondyles
perpendicular to the RI.
• Mediolateral: Place the patient facing the RI (Fig. 5-27) and oblique (20o to 30o in relation to
to the PA) to allow contact of the humerus with the RI; as shown, flex the elbow in
90th.
• Adjust the chassis height so that the shoulder and elbow joints are equidistant from the
chassis ends.
■ RC:
• CR perpendicular to the RI, directed to the midpoint of the humerus.
